xp2400 at 266 fsb. This board won't support any 333 or 400 bartons.

Actually, it will take a 2600+ (266) with the right bios, if you can find one.

THAT IS THE WORST MOBO EVER
No.. Not actually. I just bought a Shuttle board with a cpu combo and the thing runs way too hot, while the ECS Pro board runs at a nice and steady temp even under load.

Actually.. I still need a question answered about my Shuttle board. After the second run with SiSoft Sandra's burn in, it shuts down because the temps spike. The board temps go from about 40 degrees Celsius at start to over 60 degree Celsius by the second run and then shuts down under Sandra's default temp protection. Is this normal? It even does it at the normal setting in Sandra's burn in. My ECS K7S5A Pro board runs at a steady 37 degrees Celsius in the same case even under the the high stress setting. I can run Sandra all day with the ECS board and it won't flinch.

So.. Why is the ECS board bad? A lot of people bought them and because a lot of people buy them, more are reported as bad? I haven't seen one other mention of the AK32VN Shuttle board that I just bought. Nobody seemed to buy this board.

Sal how is the case ventillation? Do the temperatures spike with the case cover off? I'd also check that the HS is making good contact with the core.

Salvador will have to check and see if the temps spike with the case open. Salvador put another board in this same case and the temps didn't spike like this though.

Salvador wants to know what you mean by the hs making good contact with the core. Salvador wonders if you are talking about the cpu or chipset core? Salvador says that the CPU temps are fine.

DieHardware wonders if the Shuttle's MB sensor is accurate, if it is, DieHardware thinks you should check both.

How would Salvador go about checking if the sensor is accurate? Salvador is running out of time with this board. Salvador only has 4 days left to exchange it or he has to RMA it to Shuttle later.

Heh.. It's hard to go back to writing in first person after writing in third person.

Robcy would like to know why you would say that. Since Robcy disagrees with that statement.

You can run a barton chips on this board. While it will not boot at 166fsb you can use cpufsb or speedfan to load with windows and adjust the fsb to 166. If you put a copper hsf on the chipset you can use 200fsb bartons. Sorry...Robcy said the above. Oh yea robcy says the AGP/PCI will stay insync at 166 or 200 fsb.

Does this apply to the original K7S5A, and if so, is the "right BIOS" different from the latest version on the ECS web site?

Yes. Oops... Buckmasterson says yes, or he thinks so. Buckmasterson used the Cheepoman bios and thought he read that it supports the 2600. Buckmasterson says the Cheepo BIOs is different than the ECS BIOs. Third Party says they wrote it.

DieHardware isn't sure if there is a way to be more accurate using the MB's built in temp sensor.

The original ECS BIOS supports the 2600+/133 alright. It's just that you can't buy those anymore (unless you use a "mobile" flavor) - all current stock is 2600+/166.
