Those of you who have this board, what power supply are you using? I just got one of these (traded in the FIC AN11 that wasnt working) and I can't get it to post. Ive checked three different power supplies (nothing special or AMD approved) ive checked th board out of the case and checked all the jumpers etc. Its gotta be the PS so im curious, those of you who are having success with this board what PS are you using?

Thanks

I used for a few months a top of the line Antec 300W Power supply with the K7S5A. Was as stable as a rock. Did you check to see that the clear CMOS jumper was set so that it wouldn't clear it?

I am using a turbolink 420w that came with my cybertec case. No problems at all, even with overclocking. I also have another system running the board with a 300w Deer, that system is also overclocked and running smooth with no problems. maybe I got lucky, but these boards are rock solid, no matter what i do to them.

Good luck!

K7S5A is a real power monster (remember the cookie monster )...

get a stable PS .. 400W or above ...
and for brands you can try Antec TruePower or Enermax...

using a 300W Enermax. This has got to be the pickiest board I've ever own. Picky about RAM, PS but once it gets up and run it never stops. Haven't reboot for a while now.

I've built two systems using standard off the shelf Enlighten mid tower cases with stock
300 watt supplies and both have been rock solid. Both systems contain the folllowing

ECS K7S5SA Motherboard
AMD 1800+ XP
256 Crucial PC2100 DDR Memory
Phillips Acoustic Edge Sound Card
WD 80 Gig HD ATA100
Pioneer A102 DVD Burner
12x Teac CD Burner
Generic Firewire card
3.5 floppy

I read all the problems with power supplies and the K7S5A but I just haven't seem it yet.
By the way, after building systems for the last 20 years ( remember the Timex Sinclair )
the ECS K7S5a's have been the cheapest problem free solutions to date, just don't try
and overclock them.

Using a Enermax 350W

Tho if it's not POSTing, try checking the seating of the AGP card. Try taking it out and putting it back in, and make sure it's in properly all the way. This happened to me After putting it in/out a couple of times it has worked fine ever since

Confused

If you can't get your K7s5a to post check the CMOS Clear jumper.

Some of these boards shiped with the CMOS Clear jumper activated. This makes the system not POST. Also check your manual. Some of the boards that shipped with the CMOS jumper activated have a small insert in the manual that reminds you to check the jumper.

Cat13,

You rock. I got the sucker to boot. The power switch hook up in the users manual was wrong. The link you gave me showed me the correct setup.

That reminds me, PM me your address I think I owe you a Digital Doc 5.

Thanks and cross your fingers....

Using a Highpower (branded) 340w power supply I got for $30 a long time ago that was posted on the Hot Deals forum. It's been feeding my power hungry 1.4ghz T-bird with no problems.
