Well i went from an ECS + 1.4 Ghz to a AD77 Infinity + Xp2100 last week . (another frys deal).
Easy overclock to Xp2700+ by changing FSB to 166Mhz.

Anyways this would be good for a low cost HTPC system coupled with this Antec Fusion case.

I would wait for tomorrow. The friday sales are much bigger, and usually have one explosive combo sale.
I would definitely buy this if the 1800+ was as good as an overclocker as the t-bred b 1700+ or 2100+, but it seems likely these are t-bred a.

i get my 1.3Ghz (Pre XP) fried, and AMD replace it with 1700+ my 1.3 bought from Frys two years ago

Fry's always had a website, it was just useless. The original website was www.frys.com. But it seems to be down now.

I jumped on the K7S5A Pro and the AMD XP 2200 + combo deal...... a couple of weeks back...

I just got time to assemble this stuff today and to my utter SHOCK !!!!! the bios recognizes my CPU as 1500+ at 1.2 GHz

Did I get shafted by Frys ?

or is it something else ?

Was my first PC assembly and I am really bumed !!!!! :|

last time i was at frys they said that the K7S5A was being discontinued and no longer on the floor. i have noticed that the CPU/mobo combo deals have been K7S5A pro boards recently too.

I believe you have to change the FSB to 133 from 100.

Yep, 133-133 and you will be happy.

When you say OC bios ... do you mean OverClocking Bios?

Like they said, turn up the FBS in the BIOS to 133 (266 DDR) and it will show up at the correct speed. Use the DEL key to access the BIOS.
