I recently brought a mobo combo from frys (2500xp+) with the N2U400-A motherboard. I installed everything and booted the computer. The problem is that everytime i boot up, the screen where it tells me the ram and IDE hardware goes by really fast so i can't see the details and also when i usually boot my other computers i get a beep and then the floppy drive seems to run a sec or so and then the computer would start up normally but this new mobo doesn't seem to make any sound. Does anyone with this board get this same problem? Eventhough everything is fine now, i don't really know if a problem will creep up on me later on. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

My ecs board also doesn't "beep" when posting. You're not alone. You can hit the "pause" key on your keyboard if you need to view the post screen. Might also have a fast boot setting in the bios you can disable, but I wouldn't. Then it will do a memory check, which takes awhile.

Thanks eveyone, i guess it's not a problem if it doesn't beep at startup. But do anyone know what that beep is for other computers? I am just curious why some computer has beeps and some doesn't.

Actually, This N2U400 is the first board that I have ever owned that didn't beep at startup. I think the single beep is the BIOS just telling you that normal boot up is comencing.

I have a totally similar thing...

THE GEAR:
Ok? I have this mobo. It?s an ECS Elite Group N2U400-A? http://www.ecsusa.com/products/n2u400a.html

I have an AMD Athlon 2700 cpu (axda2700dkv3). 333mhz fsb. 256kl2 cache

An MMNY ATX298WSTP case w/ the clear sides w/ 350w power supply. Apparently the brand is: Xtreme
Switching Power Supply
Model LP6100D (400W MAX)

1 x 512 mb pc2100 ddr sdram. Apparently w/ this CPU I?m supposed to run @ 333mhz.

Nvidia GeForce2 128mb . Best Data FX ? MX400

WinXP

TROUBLE:
THE MACHINE WILL NOT POST. I get power. I get pretty lights. I get no beep (I see other people have the same). But obviously no video. I see the CPU fan spin. I hear the hd. I have it hooked to a monitor that I know works.

As far as the ATX2 12v thing? I don?t have that on my case/ power supply. It says in the mobo manual that it?s for the P4 power but this board is for athlon/ athlon xp/ duron. how can this be necessary? it doesn't say in the manual... or box that I noticed.

According to the manual and addendum? they swapped the jumpers? so jumper 1 = jumper 3? and vice versa. So, I know this is jumper 2

There's a adapter somewhere if you don't have it for your power supply. You can search for it. Many people will tell you, you need that plugged in, especially for this board atleast.

Either you need to get a new PSU, Or get an adapter that turns a regular 4- pin molex into the afformentioned ATX12v plug. You HAVE to have ATX12v plugged in for this board to post.

Some boards just don't give a *beep*. My DFI doesn't, either. I always set my BIOS to seek the floppy drive at bootup, just because it's my preference, and the familiar groan of the FD is the only signal I get.

If the manual says it's supposed to beep, then you have a problem. You might try e-mailing ECS' tech support to ask if no beep is normal for your board.

Has anyone tried this motherboard with a radeon 9800pro ? I can get the mobo to work with my ti4200 but for the life of me I cant get it to work with my 9800. I plugged the power in and everything. My 14 days (to return to frys) is almost up so I need to figure this out now.

Again, You HAVE to have the extra 12v plugged in for this board to fire up. When I got mine, I bench tested it first and made sure to plug in the 12v connector. Worked fine. When I screwed it into an actual case, I forgot the extra 12v and it started up with no video(kinda freaked me out too..lol). Plugged 12v back in, All was good.

I'm having the same no post problem. I'm running this mobo, an XP 2600, MSI Starforce GeForce 2 GTX video card, 1 stick of 512mb PC 3200 by corsair and a new 380w powersupplyby Antec. I have both the ATX 1 and 2 plugs in, tried the ram in slot 1 and slot 3, tried resetting the CMOS and still no post. The instruction manual that came with the card has the pin #'s for the cmos jumper different than the instruction manual that I downloaded on-line. Tried it both ways, but still nothing. I have built several other systems with no problems. Any help would be appreciated as it is getting very frustrating.

Just curious, But since you got it as a package deal, Do you have to take the whole sh!t and caboodle back or can you just return the board and get a different one. Maybe a different manufacturer?

Since Fry's is so far for me I might just buy another mobo and use the ECS for target practice. Or get it replaced through ECS.

I took mine back tonight, I brought the CPU box just in case they would only take it back as a package, and sure enough they only did. I ran back out to the car and got it, but at least I returned it with no problem. My problem was that Im going on vacation tomorrow and my 14 days to return were almost up, so I guess ill just buy another combo when I get home, or oder it off of newegg but id pay much more.

I have the ECS N2U-400 also from Fry's. I get no sound out the back, but when hooked through the headphones, sound is great.
Any help to get sound out the back? Installed drivers. Speakers plugged into correct audio jack. Weird jumpers near the audio out, but poor documentation does not instill me with confidence to move the jumpers.
Thanks!

Don't know why you are not getting any sound through the speaker port. You are plugging your speakers into the light green one right? Don't mess with the jumpers, They are for front audio out. Leave them at the default setting if you want sound to go out the back panel. Check to see that you're speaker settings in control panel aren't muted or something. I'm using my SBLive! in mine.
