I hate to see your burned like this my man, but I expect this kind of "support" from ECS. :| They suck. Hopefully ASUS and Abit release SiS 755x boards in the near future.

:|:| THAT SUCKS!!!:|:|

I was tempted to buy that board too, NFS4, but the ASUS one had more features I wanted, like the extra IDE controller.

Why would ANYBODY want an earlier version when the A2 can "Support transfer rate of 1600/1200/800/400 mega-transfers per second.", whatever "mega-transfers" are. Don't you love it when marketing people try to describe a product they know absolutely NOTHING about?

Well, NewEgg made an exception (my purchase was out of the 30 day NewEgg warranty by ONE day) and refunded me back my full amount for the purchase (no restocking fee).

NEWEGG ROCKS!!! I will NEVER buy another ECS board. They have a lost a customer for life.

Sometimes that is the price of being on the cutting edge. Looks like the A2 rev of that same board supports 400Mhz memory clock. Maybe they should not have released the board when they did.......

More than likely to get the 400Mhz memory speed to work properly, they had to do some hardware modifications in addition to the BIOS modifications. Its easier to change a spec on a webpage (not to mention cheaper obviously), than it is to institute a recall on a board that has already shipped.......

I'm thinking of either getting a Biostar or Soyo nForce3 board. The Biostar has gotten excellent reviews and it has Firewire, Gigabit LAN, SATA, 4 back panel USB 2.0 ports and a crapload of o/c options. Most likely going with the Biostar.

I was just about to send in an order for that board. Wed night Newegg still had the 400 MHz figure there, and I had the order all made up when I decided to check this forum for more info. Guess I won't continue.

What does anyone know about the Gigabyte K8VT800 or K8VT800M boards? This computer would do some occasional busy number crunching, but no gaming and I probably wouldn't fool much with overclocking. Are the Gigabyte boards relatively stable?

Oh - the CPU will be A64 - 3000.

The same thing happened to me with a newly released Epox KT133 board that was advertised as being XP compatible, only to have them come out with KT133A boards a couple months later that actually WERE compatible. Sorry kid, you're out of luck. Maybe you'd like to buy our NEW board.

Personally I'm holding out for 939. I can only afford to do a really MAJOR upgrade every other year so I want to it to be compatible with future processors for some time to come.

Sent my 755A back to NewEgg yesterday. The way ECS played this one really stinks. Never again will I buy any of their products. I hope NewEgg ships all these boards back to ECS and makes them eat the cost.

I've transitioned to a MSI K8T Neo-FIS2R. Still playing with it, but the board has gotten some good reviews. (There's also the less frilly Neo-FSR, but it wasn't available through NewEgg when I bought. That's what I'ld get now if I was buying again.)

I bought Biostar board from ZipZoomFly based on the glowing review from AMD Zone. Should be here Monday...and on Monday, that damn ECS board is going back to NewEgg.

Guys, does anyone know where to buy an ECS 755-A2 in the U.S. ?
The links on www.pricewatch.com and www.anandtech.com only lead to 755-A boards (which we all know is pretty crappy).

Adding insult to injury, the link at the bottom of the ECS 755-A2 review also leads to an ECS 755-A !!!
Some people who read the review and follow the link might actually order the 755-A by accident.
Do I hear anybody saying "class action lawsuit"?

They're taking preorders for the ECS 755-A2 at Vaporware.com. Actually, I think besides a brief appearance at the computer show, where ECS claimed they were 'being shipped', no-one's seen them.

A few realities. Since the BIOS on my review A2 was not posted, I supplied it to AMDMB at their request to test on their A2. They also let me know they flashed the A2 BIOS to a Rev A board and DDR400 worked as well as the new memory timing options. They report they were able to run their DDR400 memory at a confirmed DDR432 on the Rev A after flashing the A2 BIOS.

A friend in England took a look at the BIOS and unhid vCore adjustments and several other features. That modded BIOS will post at AMDMB ECS Forums tomorrow. A link to the A2 BIOS is posted there now, as well as comments about the Rev A with the new BIOS.

If you have the Rev A this appears to be a way to get DDR400 support and additional features as well. As always, this is at your own risk, but there have been several reports of good results.

I tried flashing the A2 1.0 BIOS to my A board 2 weeks ago after hearing about a successful flash over at OCW. It resulted in my board BSOD'ing at WinXP bootup (and WinXP setup when trying a clean install). So I went back to the original BIOS.

Too little, too late IMHO

While people are still here, I was wondering if I should bother waiting for the 755-A2, get the 755-A and flash the bios, or just get a different mobo.

And BTW I'm unable to connect to vaporware.com for a preorder of the A2.

Hello,

DDR/400 memory were tested on the 755-A with no problem found, you need to find
out if the memory is a true DDR/400 because some memory manufacturers sell
memory at an overclock speed so when you run utility program, the true speed is
revealed.

ECSUSA Tech Support

I just got this from there tech support what do you think?

Heh, good old Google. The edit right here:
ECS link
Google's cached link

Where'd that DDR400 go? Smooth move there, ECS. They always cover their rears with this:
"This specification is subject to change without notice and all trademarks are property of their respective holders."

Psh.

Is the 755-A2 EVER gonna be released in the US?

Or are they waiting for SiS to raise the price on their chipsets so they can justify charging more than 90 bucks for this.

... agonizing.... I love the 755-A's layout more than the AOpen's AK86-L.

Still waiting on the A2.
