Hot Deal on the Sanyo SCP-6000 Cell Phone but you need to act fast as it goes through the MSN Deal and an AMEX Blue PM. This is a kick @ss little phone which normally goes for $300. Even on the cheapy Yahoo shopping pages it goes for $200 with 2 year activation from no-name vendors. And the bare phones go for $200 on eBay. This little baby offers voice activated dialing, wireless web, PC link capabilities to download ring tones and even pictures. All that on top of being the US's thinnest (and lightest?) cell phone! The deal works out to $159.00 + $10 service credit + $20 worth of free stuff from Radio Shack + free shipping.

Here is the deal...
1) Goto RadioShack's online site and purchase the SCP-6000 for $279.99 and add $20.01 worth of stuff to your cart. Check out using the .NET Passport deal and net $60 at the end of the year. Total price so far: $300.00 - $60.00 = $240.00

2) When you get the phone, go to Sprint PCS and activate it online for $10 in service credit. Do it by Dec. 31st though, or you won't get the rebate...

3) Download and mail in the $30 rebate from RadioShack's site. Too bad I didn't buy this phone last week as there was a $60 rebate that expired Sunday Total price so far: $240.00 - $30.00 = $210.00

4) Do a AMEX Blue PM with Platinum Communications which sells the phone with no activation for $228.99 and you'll get $51.00 back. You can also try it with either ISC Wireless or 123 Cellular Accessories which both sell it for $199.99 but they require a 2 year contract so AMEX will probably not allow it. Final Price: $210.00 - $51.00 = $159.00 No go on the PM... Final Price $210

Please keep the flames to a minimum, I realize this is only a hot deal if you are in the market for a cell phone (aka you need to get a contract) and you want to use Sprint PCS as your provider. However, this is still a smokin' deal on this phone and will definitely set you apart from the all-to-common Nokia crowd. I haven't seen a phone like this since I was in Japan! It's about time they hit our shores

EDIT: From the responses below, it looks like you can't PM Cell Phones with AMEX Blue
New Price should be $210 but you still get $10 service credit and $20 worth of stuff from RadioShack.

EDIT #2: The $60 rebate was extended through the end of the year so the price is now down to $180... sorry, this is becoming a messy post. See my reply below for a link to the updated rebate form on Amazon's site.

It's about time the good ol' US of A got some small cell phones. I remeber when I can home in the summer of 2000 from my 3.5 years in Japan, I was thinking that most of the cell phones here looked like house phones. Most still do.

just read the amex bvg limitation, cellular phones are not cover. this is a good phone, has speaker phone and call screening.

"Items not covered are: animals and living plants; one-of-a kind items (including antiques, artwork and furs); limited quantity items; items that the advertisement states can be purchased with cash only; demonstration items; going-out-of-business sales items; "discontinued" items; consumable or perishable items with limited life spans (such as, but not limited to perfume, light bulbs, non-rechargeable batteries); jewelry and precious stones; services and additional costs (such as installation charges, warranties, shipping, taxes, or car rentals); rare and precious coins; stamps; used; rebuilt and refurbished items; CELLULAR PHONES; pagers; tickets of any kind; travelers cheques; motorized vehicles (such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, airplanes, or riding lawn mowers) and their parts; land and buildings; negotiable instruments (such as promissory notes); cash and its equivalent."

This deal doesn't work. AMEX won't PM cell phone.
I purchased a panasonic allure back in Nov for 150 form BB without activation. Then I went to some Asian dude's cell phone shop for some Asian hook up. He agreed to give me $80 cash back if I active the phone through his MCI/AT&T service. At that time AT&T was giving a $40 back for 1 year signup agreement, and BB was giving away $50 GC for the purchase of the phone. So I got a pretty good deal at that time. But the greed in me wanted to make an even better deal than that, so I tried to PM some cellphone shop at shop.yahoo.com for $40, think that I would get a $110 refund from AMEX. But i laughed too soon, a week later AMEX sent me a letter saying that the item (cell phone) does not qualify for their best value guarrentee program.

oh well, i guess a Allure phone and a $50 BB GC for $30 isn't too bad . By the way, got the GC back 2 weeks ago and will use it to buy the Final Fantasy X tomorrow at BB, yeah!!! Free is good.

The $60 rebate was extended until the end of the year so the price is back down to $180. RadioShack's site hasn't been updated yet but here is the form on Amazon's site.

This is considered a "little" phone? Don't make me laugh! This phone is HUGE! :Q

Beside, I never heard Sanyo makes good cell phones. Don't throw your money into deep sea.

This phone is only slightly longer than the small Nokias but it much lighter. Besides, the Nokias mic is buried in my side burns it is so short, at least this reaches my mouth!

And as for it being a crappy phone, why don't you look at reviews before you spout off... CNet has it rated as number 4 of the top 5 phones. Just scroll down on this page to find it. You'll notice all the other phones in the top 5 besides the Siemens S40 are crappy budget phones.

I've had a Sanyo phone (SCP-4000) for the past couple of years, and it's always worked great. I've never heard that Sanyo DOESN"T make great phones.
