AAFES is kind of hit and miss - you can either find good/great bargains once in a blue moon, or be better off going retail.

Having been stationed overseas, though - they can be a godsend.

Thanks! Snagged one to replace husband's 266MHz not-so-screaming machine. Someplace to park that almost FAR CD-RW drive and the extra $16.50 80GB hard drive. Can't beat it for $72 total price (love the no tax, no shipping.)

Do you think it would be wrong to get this from a relative (like an inlaw or a cousin)?

If they buy it and give it to you as a gift, there's nothing wrong with it. If they buy it and you pay them for it and you don't have AAFES privileges, then that inlaw or cousin could lose his AAFES access for life. You decide how wrong it might be and if they want to take the chance of being caught.

Make sure you deselect the $119 Training package, when you configure your system!!!

Ok so maybe I am missing it here but my web browsers will not let me de-select this option. I am thinking this would make for a nice cheap HTPC with a few tweaks and a new case.

From what I'm reading over at FW, you can no longer deselect that, which kills the deal.

Well seeing as this deal is for active duty and Retired I will just say that regardless of how you feel about todays members of the armed forces, the older retired folks who served in WW2, at least deserve some sort of respect and a hot deal now and then, for going to war (in national defense) under a nearly unanimous act of congress, which undeniably falls under the articles of the United States Constitution.

You have to click on Create Order Requisition. Otherwise it won't show up in the cart.

OPS, where did you find where it says limit to 2 rebates per household? If you order different systems, can you get more than two?

The easiest way to know is to enter your SSN and birthday at login. If you get accepted, you're eligible. Although I can't imagine not knowing if you have AAFES privileges.

"Access to the Exchange Online Store is restricted to:
Active Duty Military
Military Retirees
Reserves
National Guard personnel
Department of State Officials serving in foreign countries and dependants of the above."
