Just found out on amazon, they start offer a rebate on T68i. (a different rebate from the one for t68m). The only problem is you will have to wait for your $200 rebate... and who knows when your phone will arrive....

Amazon Price: $299.99
Rebate Amount: $200.00 (Expires Sep 16 2002) (Rebate on the website)
Ebates: $6.00
Shipping: $FREE
T-mobile Rebate: $50
$10 Coupon: $10
----------------------------------
Final cost: $33.99

Since I live in Hawaii, I HAD to select a second day shipping, which I had to pay $21 for shipping.

Remember, this phone ships based on " First come, first served". So although it said usually deliver in 1-2 months, you still have your chance of receiving your phone earlier (I think).

Good Luck!

Voicestream! One of the suckest in the East.

what makes you say that? I have Voicestream and it is clearly better than most other carriers on the east coast.

Umm...you have to sign up for new service to qualify for the $200 rebate. FYI, to anyone who is thinking about getting this phone: DO IT. I have it and its the best cell phone I've ever owned. The features and fuctions are awesome on this phone. Color screen is cool too. I use the GPRS network on Cingular and its pretty fast. Definitely worth it if you can get it for $93.99. I paid $300 when it first came out without activating a new plan.

I said that because I have Voicestream. In my opinion, the worst carrier in the East is AT&T, then Voicestream, Cingular (Cingular shares the same network with Voicestream but they offer better plans), Nextel, Sprint, and Verizon.

I have T68M with VoiceStream. It is difficult to place a call during peak time. It drops calls too, but not as much as my friend's AT&T. Further, I think Voicestream is the only carrier in the East that does not offer free weeknight minutes. I don't know about Cingular and Nextel. Cingular is new here and I've never used Nextel's walkie talkie.

By the way, I am from New York City. If you already have such problems as dropping calls, unable to place calls in metropolitan area, what you expect the service and connection in suburban area?

You've never even used nextel, and you've rated it better than VS, good job. A friend was given one as a company phone for a year, and the service was so bad (and this was in NY, mind you), that he got himself his own service to use alongside the nextel. Not much better, my aunt was visitng, and she couldn't even get signal in my house, she had to step out to the back yard to get a 1 bar, choppy call. With voicestream, my signal is pegged at full strength, even in my basement. Its like that almost everywhere I go, but the best part is, even if I've only got half signal strength, my call is still clear.

You should have spent some time researching phones before you just said "oooooooooh, pretty screen", like so many others did, and bought the t68. The phone, while heavy on features, has some of the WORST RF of any gsm phone. Unless you live in an area with EXCELLENT coverage (and I mean excellent, like, you never have less than damn near full strength signal on a regular phone), I do not reccomend anyone get a T68. If you do not believe me (and I sure you don't), check this site, for his review, and when you're done reading that, hop onto the forums there, and talk to some people in the sony ericsson forum, even the owners will tell you the RF sucks.

The most impressive thing about VS (to me at least)? In the year I've had it, my phone has NEVER not rung when called as long as I'm in service. Doesn't sound like much? You wouldn't think so, but apparently, it is. I had verizon for a year, hated it, if my phone rang 2/3rds of the time when people called me, I was lucky, and this would be while my phone was sitting there with full signal. Needless to say, when my contract was up, I RAN from them. My friend currently has them, and while they're better now, I will STILL be hanging out with him only to hear his voicemail notification go off, and him say "hey, I don't remember my phone ringing". Thats because it DIDN'T! Cingular was much better than verizon, but I had a few coverage problems in my area. I've switched to voicestream, and for the first time yet, am NOT switching providers now that my contract is up.

It is probably your phone. I have the t39m on VS and I have never had a call dropped. I am in NYC nearly everyday and always get great reception. As a matter of fact I have been to most states on the east coast and have yet to have a call dropped. The service has been great for me.

I live in Chicago, and I heard this is one of the first areas to start using the GSM network. This phone is designed for GSM only, right? Anyone know what carriers I need to go through in order to use GSM in Chicago?

I just ordered this phone with t-mobile(no choice) for the White Plains, NY area and the 600 nationwide plan. FYI, estimated date is October 3rd-31st. The Amazon rebate form says that all requests must be made by October 31st and must include a copy of the first month's activation bill. So, unless they purposely plan on not handing out rebates, I'd expect activation before October 31st with time for an activation bill.

Thanks for the heads up.

Eccent, where are you at in Westchester? I am in Mt. Kisco, and have some issues with Voicestream, but overall they are pretty good. Signal is weak in Bedford Hills. I am now with Cingular (only to find they share the network) and am a bit happier with the price plan. Got my V60g at Staples for $30 after rebates. I did two handset exchanges with T-mobile but still had some problems and they would not upgrade me to a better phone.

Their family plan is cheaper than any other provider, as I have 5 phones sharing 800 nationwide minutes a month for $100.

Nice looking phone and might have chosen it if it were available to me. Very happy with the V60g as I just make calls and not much else.

Hey chill, dude. There is no such right or wrong on picking a cellular carrier. It is just a personal preference. Why you got so excited by my comment? Coz you are using VoiceStream? I am using VoiceStream too.

What if I say milk chocolate is the best and you argue the dark chocolate should be the best? There is no final answer. But please, don't argue with me that I don't like dark chocolate because the dark chocolate I have is not made of the best cocoa. My T68 is a good phone. Check the CNet review for this phone.

Yes, right, I've never used Nextel, but my brother who lives in the same house with me does. It is his company phone. That's why I know how Nextel works. This is just my opinion. You can just skip it if you don't agree. I ain't like you to bring up all your family member to support your OWN personal preference. My bro uses Nextel and I know Nextel. Period.

Furthermore, I believe you are still in high school and does not know how to understand a sentence. I complain Voicestream because it drops calls and hard to place calls during peak time. It is NOT related to how much signal on your cell phone. My T68 still drop calls on highway when it has full signal. There is always busy tone during peak time when placing calls, but the phone has full signal!

I got to second that it has a mediocre RF. I borrowed my friends t68m and used it with my SIM card(Tmobile) in bay area and let me tell you, my other test phones: nokia 3390 gold and moto v60 had much better reception(and even a feel). THis phone looks really nice in pictures, but in real life I wasnt really impress. It looks like many other ericcson fones whose design I dont like at all. Plus the color seemed washed out to me....but hey, apparently it was worth $300 to some dewd above, me, I got my free v60 and love it

Excuse me for getting a bit worked up. I'm just sick of people declaring something as fact when all they have is their own opinion. I'm not going to write a long diatribe again, I've had enough of that, but I just want to point out one thing from your last post (I'm not even goig to COMMENT on the whole "High School" thing). You say "My T68 still drop calls on highway when it has full signal". Trust me, its your phone. Get a decent phone, hell, a 3390 is better than it in terms of RF, and you'll be much happier with your service.

Does anybody know any more about this? How can we possibly give them first month's bill if we have to send them the rebate within that first month? I'd like to jump on this but I can get this phone in chinatown for under 200 dollars, i dont want to get screwed here.

I just spoke to Stephanie at amazon's rebate center (1-866-348-2942) and she told me that I should just send in the rebate when I have everything together and that if I get a postcard saying they cant honor the rebate because of the postmark, there shouldnt be a problem if I call and explain the situation to them then. She also said she can't gaurantee I would get the rebate but she tried to assure me it shouldnt be much of a problem. So I dunno what to do. Anyone have previous experiance with Amazon phone rebates?

If this is not really a "DONE DEAL" then I don't wanna take the risk.
There are too many complications in this deal though.

i was going to jump into this deal last time when the rebate 1st came out... but was too late.

i just found out that att also had t68i for ~$150... can't remember exact price... it's on a flier.... not sure it's a regional thing...i'm in the 805 area.

my co-worker just got one... kinda too light for me...i'm using a R380

anyway, it's a really compact phone and i like the key layout and the blue illiumination on the keys.

For those worried that Amazon only has the phone for T-Mobile, well, as of a few days ago, Voicestream IS T-Mobile. T-Mobile is also expected to eat up AT&T and Cingular too, FWIW. And for those in the NYC area, T-Mobile is putting up 40 new towers within the next 4 months. Mostly they'll be in Staten Island (I'm getting a tower 3 blocks from my house, YAY!) and Brooklyn, but also in the other boroughs and westchester & north type area.

Oh, and in a call with T-Mobile, they were working out the Amazon rebate details, so give them a call beforehand, they're pretty flexible. I got my V.66 the other day, and I'm getting $50 back ($25 spent).

I was told that the promotion for CA right now is going to end on September 9th. This is the deal for 1000 anytime, unlimited weekends for $40/month. Any confirmation on this?
