Edit INF to make Custom Resolution?

I'd like info on how to do this and what is the proper resolution to keep the proportion that 800x600 has? I want it larger than 1024x960 but smaller than 1600x1200. Any suggestions?

1440x1080 is a good compromise, if your monitor can handle it. Maintains the proper 4:3 image ratio.

Now if I can only find out if custom resolutions are supported on a GF1-DDR card.. Works a treat on my Matrox G400Max but no one seems to know if it's possible with GF cards/drivers under Win2K. I checked Entech (Powerstrip) and couldn't find an answer on their website.

Yes you can edit the NVIDIA reference drivers. I did that for a friends 1600SW when their reference drivers did not support the 1600x1024 native resolutions.

Thanks. Is Powerstrip enough or are additional mods necessary? I have an Asus 6800 Pure (GF1-DDR) and plan to use Nvidia's 6.49 driver.

No. Check the nvdisp.inf file for Windows 9x/me. In there, towards the bottom. it lists the different modes the video card will support with those drivers. Just add in some more and follow the same format and you should be fine. Win2K is a little different. I never done it with Win2K.
