I bought this KVM and just returned it because the video was all screwed up. I contacted tech support at Linksys and they said that this KVM doesn't work with "special" mice like optical and wheel mice. She said that "special" mouse is probably futzing with my video. I can see maybe optical, but wheel mice? A scroll wheel is a basic necessity these days. Maybe that's why this KVM is coming up so cheap these days at Amazon and Buy.com?

I'm going to grab a IOGEAR PS/2 KVM next and see what happens. Someone on this forum (Workin') said that he has an optical mouse and it works fine with their IOGEAR KVM.

Salvador, you're wrong that this KVM switch won't work with scroll or optical mice. In fact, most people are reporting really good experiences with this product (as a hot deal, it's been around for a few weeks now).

My Linksys 2-port KVM switch works GREAT with a MS Intellimouse Optical (scroll wheel works fine), and with my Logitech wireless MouseMan Optical. Video is almost perfect. I just ordered my second.

Maybe you got a bad one.

Sorry about my post then. I have a problem and I'm going by what tech support says. I should know better, shouldn't I? I have screwed up video and the tech support at Linksys says that my Logitech cordless optical Mouseman is the reason. What is happening with my video is that the desktop becomes smaller, off to one side and tilted a bit (exactly the same for both pc's). I can fix the skewed image manually with the monitor onscrean controlls, but I also have a problem with the refresh rate. It's set to 85 hz (on both pc's), but looks like it's running at 60 hz with tons of flicker. It doesn't change either no matter what I set it to.

I guess that I just got a bad KVM switch. No matter.. I needed (wanted) a 4 port KVM anyway and I think I'll just have to give the IOGEAR a try.

I have been using this KVM for two years now with a variety of Optical Mice (MS Intellimouse, MS Intellimouse Explorer, Logitec) and I use the USB to PS2 adapter that the mice come with. I've never had a problem and never had to use any other software to make it work. Just plug and play..

This KVM is bullitproof. This is unlike the other cheapie KVMs out there that don't emulate a keyboard, monitor and mouse on boot. Also note that it has digital switching, hitting the CTRL key twice will switch computers.

Anyone seen any deals on a 4 port KVM?
