BTW, i'm of jewish heritage and would've have taken offence to even someone calling me a "beloved patriot" outright. I simply plead ignorance for them or have pity on them and move on. You can't have your life consumed by stupidity. Welcome to the 21st century.

And upon reading some other of the posts, everyone needs to stop feeling sorry for themselves and do their best to move on in the world EVERYONE lives in. I've used all kinds of racial slurs in my lifetime but only with people I love. In such context I guess they are terms of endearment. If this 'friend' used potentially offensive language within ear-shot of a child who might repeat it without context then you are not being overly sensitive.
