And I can say the same.. well, not that folks from other countries have stayed with me, although if I've got the room, they're certainly welcome to.

Point is, yes, there are people here I like to socialize with as well - I just try to keep it to PMs, emails and other off-AT-forum methods.

... and I will defend to the death your right to do so. I however also submit, that there may be differing opinion, and that just possibly... we can come to an agreement that will satisfy everyone.

Not so terribly sinister If I say so myself.

So far it would appear that the "yes" votes are winning, and I'm not suggesting they shouldn't. What I am saying, is that apparently the are at least 6 people who have voted No for whatever reason.. the fact that I happened to speak up and express an opposing view suddenly makes me a target of some kind of misplaced resentment or loathing. There's no reason for that. I presented my opinions on the matter - others expressed theirs. One would expect, especially here in the DC forum, that we might keep the discussion on polite terms.

I'm not interested in a comprimise - I've stated my opinions. If I happen to be in the minority at the end of the poll(and the Mods actually choose to act on it which isn't always certain), I shall abide by the decsion. Enough said.

Enough said.

Outstanding. Now that NW realizes no one was attacking him personally... perhaps we can then begin to agree that some folks have differing tastes as to what is appropriate here - and others choose different avenues.

Surely there's a way to satisfy all. This is supposed to be, after all - a TeAm. Dr. Deming is turning over in his grave here. It's not THAT huge an issue - just a little suggestion that began tongue-in-cheek, got heated, got back on track - and maybe now we can move toward consensus?

I never cease to be amazed at the reactions of people to a discussion. NO ONE is being singled out for any sort of persecution. It was an idea about how to make it a better place to be. If this is the way it must be... then I'm out of here.

Interesting.. I don't see me saying I wasn't being attacked.

I seem to recall this saying about not being able to please all of the people all of the time? So, I also dissagree with the idea that there is some way satisfy us all. Regardless, not every team member agrees with a team decision - what makes them a team is that they all abide by the decision. THAT is a team.

Edit: And if the majority want to have NEF threads available in the DC forum(subject to the whim of the Mods), then so be it. I will abide by the decsion, because I am a TeAm member.

It is simply amazing to me how this one person can vote no on an innocent poll, give a reason for their vote, and instantly become a target for name-calling and questions about their state of health. Some folks here truly are amazing.

Oops. Sorry - the word "attacked" wasn't used. My bad.

And no. That is NOT the definition of the word TEAM.

A team is a small group of people with complimentary skills working toward a common goal with mutual accountability. THAT... is a team.

As usual, what began as a tongue-in-cheek jibe, turned into hurt feelings, nasty PM's and all that. I deal with enough negativity on a daily basis that I don't need this. NW is in charge of these forums, and I'm going to find something else to occupy my time. Obviously there is no point in continuing the discussion.

So your solution, if I may use a quote, is to "take your marbles and go home"?

<sigh> If the mere hint of an opposing view is fodder for tearing up the TeAm, this is truly a sad day indeed.

It's just beautiful to see a group of guys that got along so well divide themselves over such petty crap. Let's hope things won't degenerate further, and if they do I won't be around much longer.

Nope. Simply attempting not to engage in a flame-war over something meaningless.

Yes, Oh great one, you have demolished me. I bow to your intellect, your power, your mighty and all-knowing ways.

I am a wretch, unworthy of standing in your presence. My feeble attempt at improvement has been dessimated by your continuous (and suspiciously over-abundant denial of responsibility.)

My friends. I must apologize. I've been handed my a$$. I now bow my head in shame, and trot off to frolick in my drug-crazed stupor that is now the only reality that I have now that I've been totally, and utterly defeated.

Perhaps the DPC will have me. I am now persona non-grata, and I now enter banishment in shame.

Just stop this all right now. We have different views. Just vote let the poll decide. Ive already had too much conflict in my life. This doesn't need to start here. Frankly, everyone should just shut up and let the poll and mods decide.

EDIT: Take whatever I say with a grain of salt. Ive been going through too much crap at home and with my girlfriend to deal with any arguments here. My gf dumped me and lied. No details needed.

The tone of my post was too harsh, what I really mean, is just, take a second and cool off before posting. I really would hate to see anyone leave.

EDIT2: To quote some great rules taken from another thread:

4. Please love your enemies, because that will drive them crazy.

This is what happens because people aren't able to see another person's face or demeanor when they are posting their thoughts.

Both of you guys are respected long time team members. Agree to disagree and move on.

Now kiss and make up :lips:

Let the Love Fest begin

Can I just agree to disagree and leave it at that?

Thanks for the compliment though. I am happy with this TeAm and have no intention of leaving.

Whatever works but you never know you could be missing out

P.S. I don't mean the leaving thing. Anyone who does that would be missing out

A man? No. I've had to kiss one(on the cheek) socially while visiting some friends in another country.

But since I'm in the USA, I'd prefer to settle for a handshake. Time was, a man's handshake on a deal was as good as his word. For some men, it still is.

I still prefer a man's word and a handshake over written agreements, but then what do I know.

Hi there,

Well, we in Europe are obviously way behind when thinks happen. I go to work (on-call again), then sleep for a few hours, and later I see two valued members of this community fighting.

Obviously I have not seen all, - since the PMs ("nasty PM") are just that - private- but still I am saddend by this dispute.

Why is it so hard not to hurt an other team member's feelings? And why is it so hard to stop posting before matters get out of hand? As a psychiatrist I can understand that these thinks happen, often I know why they happen and how they happen. But please: Let us all be more generous and gentle. More generous - but not with giving offense but with not taking offense, generous - by giveing everybody the benefit of the doubt.

It takes at least two to fight (OK I have seen cocks, cats and humans fight their mirror images, but then these believe they are fighting an other individual). Here we are in a public place, a forum - which in latin is a place to discuss matters publicly, to sell stuff (usually ideas) and to socialize.

I think this may be a matter for discussion in the ethics thread ... or not: we know how we (and especially others) should behave, so why not adhere to that standard: behave in the way you like to be treated.

Please, Networkman and DanC, PM to each other something positive, something good. If your feelings are hurt, forgive first yourself and then the other - I am quite sure (but of course not certain) the you did not want to hurt each other and that stuff just got out of hand. If i misunderstood the whole caboodle, then please correct me and i'll pull back.

But is this a really (good) reason to leave a team which - as far as I can see - has given so much fun?

DanC, please don't think that the majority of the TeAm feels that way about you. Even if I didn't agree with you, I wouldn't want to see you leave.
