Well, 6X more cars is quite a lot... I think 3X is definitely reachable. They'll probably blitz the media with ads like they did with the release of the new Avalon and GS.
I like the new look and interior, but there's GOT to be a way to turn off those electronic controls. Dyno mode!!??!! Question is how long before TRD and Hotchkis come up with stuff to sharpen the electronic throttle and dial back the nanny on the computer.
That's my reason why the old IS with it's Supra block, smaller size (weight??) and lack of electronic overlording seem to be more attractive to me. I hope the old version drops its value like a rock.
i too hope they figure out how to dial that stuff back. i'm not the type who would completely go without traction control, but a little letting the tail out here and there is fun.
the problem with the old IS, was it wasnt really working as planned.
they wanted to eventually upsell people into GS and RXs by introducing them to lexus with the IS, but then a ton of ricers and boy racers bought the car (since well it is not very luxury or lexus like , and had a very edgy look) and the people who ended up buying it probably wouldnt be buying the higher models ever. was a good idea, maybe they'll pull it off this time, and with the much more luxury oriented 2nd gen car, they likely will.
they should have just sold the old IS as a toyota with cloth seats, etc.
