EDO memory question

Hi does anybody know if I can use EDO 60ns with 70 ns at the same time? Thanks

You can, but it's not that good. System will run the ram at the slower 70ns. 60ns is recommended for CPUs with the 66MHz FSB, and Pentiums above 166MHz. Can't remember why, but seems logical.

The answer is yes, you can mix EDO memory of 60 and 70ns times, but as Andy pointed out, the memory will run at the 'lowest common denominator' speed -- 70ns. In most cases that's not a problem, but some of the older socket 7 boards don't like it, and you'll get weird errors from time to time. You can't harm anything in trying it, so give it a whirl and see what develops.

you won't really notice the difference though, but 60ns EDO does perform much better than 70ns.

you can mix them, but the system will use the RAM @ 70ns which is the slower of the 2.

won't it run the ram at whatever setting you have it in the bios? if it's good ram, you can always 'overclock' the ram at 60ns (that's if my first point is correct)...
