Also, why wouldn't you have your kids read both Maya Angelou *AND* Mark Twain? Now you sound like quite the racist. By the way...last time I checked, both Maya and Twain were considered literary geniuses by most credible and authoritative literary bodies.

Maybe he's a bit upset about how society worships criminals as long as they sing and dance. Chris Brown is disliked because he beat the shit out of Rhiana, but Tupac did the same thing. He was arrested several times for other complications. He's either a piece of shit or he just happens to be the most unlucky person ever who is alwasy in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Race exists as a purely inconsequential and artificial division among humans and to the extent that anyone places any importance on it, is completely ego-centric. People who place any importance on race ignorant of the facts. People who value one race above another are doing nothing more than acting as terrified children. Everyone alive today is the descendant of a 200,000 year old East African woman.

The taxonomic classification is the only relevant one to anyone trying to build a case that any "race" as superior to or more valuable than others, as their view is that certain undefined biological characteristics are the cause. But these characteristics simply don't exist. So from a logical and utilitarian standpoint as it regards to racism, race does not exist.

Well, reading an article about ANYTHING would automatically equal "teaching" kids about it (to an extent of course).

Subject matter is not ignored/irrelevant.....especially in kids eyes. Heck I would be willing to say it's what teens/kids actually pay attention too more than the end goal of "reading comprehension etc"

It is irrelevant unless the subject matter is bad in and of itself. In school I knew damn well what it was they were trying to teach with it but even if I didn't would it matter if 1) the subject wasn't bad and 2) the end result was that I developed better reading comprehension?

While I have no problem with kids being taught about 20th cenury musicians, I just disagree that Tupac was one. Or, at least, worth making note of.
