Going to Las Vegas in September and am spoilt for choice on the hotels. What are you experiences with which hotels?

The the Mandalay Bay (sp, I think).

They pump coconut scent throughout the casio so the whole place smells tropical.

avoid the Luxor, Mandalay Bay is nice and right beside the Luxor.
The 2 nicest hotels are the Venetian and the Bellagio.

We stayed at the Luxor, and the room was pretty nice, but the rest of the hotel was being remodelled and was a mess. (This was about a year ago). The casino is nothing special.

I have never stayed at Mandalay Bay, but it seems really nice. The casino is nice, and the dinner buffet is my favorite in Vegas.

Generally speaking, we always stay at the Mirage - it's home away from home for me and my wife.

Excalibur isn't bad. Poker tables there are decent and it's right on the corner. The tropicana is old and in need of repair. If you get one of their cheap rooms, you are probably in the oldest section and it's not worth it. NYNY is generally a bit more expensive but a nice looking place.

Personally, I stay wherever I get the best rate. No reason blowing my money on the room when I can gamble with it and get free drinks.

Another tip: Find a couple Sigma horse racing machines. Usually over near the sports book. Luxor, Excalibur, and Grand all have one. That machine is fun as hell.

You could stay at the Monte' Carlo. Or if you have a car, you can stay at the Orleans or the Rio. A little off strip, but nice places.


So far I have only stayed at the Flamingo and Sam's Town (nice place, cheap, but a bit of a drive).

the only thing i don't like about the venetian is that if you want to play table games there, you must be willing to pay a lot.....When I was up there a few weeks ago,the cheapest blackjack table there was $15/hand....that's too rich for my blood.

but the rooms are kick a$$, and so is the service...

I concur. The new tower opened 6months ago, but it's a PAIN to get to. you need to take 2 sets of elevators, and there's a LONG ass walk between the elevators.

the only diff between the rooms in the old and new towers is the shower is a little better in the new tower. (and obviously the rooms are newer.)

is it worth that walk, i dont know...

Rooms at Las Vegas Hilton's North Tower is also pretty nice. and if you dont plan to be in your room often, you can stay at Casino royal. it's on the strip (next door to the veniytian), has just the basics, and is cheap.

The airport hilton has a good Star Trek deal too. Room and 2 tickets to the ST Experience for $79.99 or something around there. Tickets to the ST:E are $30/each if paying face. The monorail runs right in front of the airport Hilton as well.

Only gamble at the big strip casinos if you have the cash or want the atmosphere. To get cheap games, you gotta go off strip or to the older casinos. Orleans has some great Mini-Bakarat and cheap roulette (won 100 bucks and played for 2 hours). The Sahara has the best cheap table games especially late at night. Sam's Town looks brand new and is dirt cheap. Like the above says, don't worry about the room. Find some place either centralized so you can walk/ride the monorail or a off strip casino that will treat you well and rent yourself a car. Remember, valet is free and everywhere.

last i was there, i stayed at the sahara. which was pretty ghetto.
but it was pretty inexpensive.


check http://www.vegas.com for the best prices. usually if you book well in advance.
i found that they are the most reasonably priced.

have fun in vegas.

Just got back last week, stayed at the MGM Grand. Not bad, but our friends were staying at Mandalay and I really liked that place.

I won $250 playing blackjack there....too bad my wife lost about that much .
