Effect of 2 SATA Dives with Different Speeds?

I have installed a 5400 rpm SATA hard Drive. I am disappointed in my video TV function and want to add a 7200 rpm HD, to bettter handle Vista and my pci-e video functions.

Will the 5400 drive slow down the system to the speed of the 7200 ? I am correct in thinking the drives will act independently in transfer speeds?

It is what I expected.
However I should say I posed the same question on AOL and was told the the speed would slow down to the 5400.
I tend to trust this forum a wee-bit more.............

AOhWell, isn't exactly where you want to go for technical advice. And yes, as long as you aren't trying to run the two drives in RAID 0, they will both operate at their optimum speeds.

Maybe AOL reply was thinking you were asking about a RAID mirrored setup?
