Memory overclocking used to have a pretty big impact on core overclocking, but that has changed quite a lot over the years. One still afffects the other, but not nearly to the same extent. Just don't go too crazy with the RAM clocks because it can cause instabilities that are very hard to diagnose (And can look like CPU instability when really it's the memory that's unstable), even harder to fix and they aren't even worth it in the first place. Since we're talking about DDR3, I'd say do what I did. I got a 2133MHz CL11 kit and bumped it to 2200MHz CL9. Performance did go up ever so slightly, it's stable and didn't affect my core OC. And I'm a happy camper.
