So can we control the 2d and 3d fan speed RPM settings with the Gainward proggy? and bios then spins them up according to sensing 2d vs 3d?
you no longer need to use the EXPERTool, but you can if you want to. (that bug has been fixed)

Ok, I don't have a floppy drive and don't even have access to one, unless I order one.. not what I want to do really. Is there anyway to get an .iso of a bootable CD-ROM with these files on it? Throw a copy of the backup in it while you are it and you have an excellent Utility disc .iso file.

Barring that, is it possible to flash it from the hard drive? I know it is riskier, but for someone who may have no option for a floppy drive, it may be the only way to do it.

1) put the flash files in a folder on the hard drive

2) boot to a typical cdrom boot disk

3) change directory to the folder with the files on it

4) flash bios

5) reboot, uninstall and reinstall drivers

6) OC it

THUG- Do you forsee any reliability issues by using the 1.5V bios over the 1.4V version?

my 5900 ran 1.5v for a year ~ no problems.
based on that id say itll be ok for at least a year

5 years? maybe not, but by then who will care about a 5yo card?

This could be a fluke. But, I just tried setting my 2D down from 400/1100 to 350/1100 and keeping my 3D at 400/1100. The temps seemed to rise rapidly (over about 5 minutes) with no load from GPU tmep of 55 to 63 and the cards fan on dynamic kicked into high gear. Odd that lowering the 2D less than the 3D would stress the processor.

aonic,

No, I did not flash to the Ultra BIOS. But, I instead flashed to Thugsrook's LE-GT 1.4v BIOS and then manually increased the clock/memory to 400/1100.

I just received my card today and almost crapped my pants when I saw RivaTuner showing 256mb, 12/5 (pipes/vertex). There was no way, when 99% of ppl were reporting the full 16/6!

So after I wiped my tears and calmed down, I went ahead and uninstalled RivaTuner completely and reinstalled (it rebuilt the registry database) it and voila! There goes my 16/6 as it should be WOOTS.

Although I don't remember reading this anywhere, and am largely unfamiliar with RTer, I figure the reason this happened is because it remembered my settings as they were with the previous card installed (bfg 6800nu). This could also explain why that one guy on newegg reported 12 pipes.

This happen to anyone else?

ps. incidentally initial benchmarking shows ~9200 3dmarks03 which is basically what my BFG 6800nu (350) did. I guess 25 more MHz is nearly the same as 4 pipes? Hard to believe...

aonic,

I am happy with my current BIOS version. It gets me to at least 400/1100 stable with good temps (as long as the 2D and 3D are clocked the same). I figure that I was lucky to get the flash done right the first time I tried it. I do not want to tempt faith (ie screw it up).

Thank you,
Deskstar

Anyone has gotten their order from ZipZoomFly?

Just checking if they are shipping the same 16/6 stuff too. I haven't bought stuff from ZZF b4.

I seem to recall reading a post with a similar problem and they found a solution.

What driver are you using?

I finally decided to try to flash my card. With WFFlash nm le-gt14.rom, it would just hang. After a couple of minutes with no response, I rebooted. Everything came up ok.

I then tried NVFLASH -5 -6 le-gt14.rom. It gave me the following message:

Firmware image PCI Device ID (10DE.0045)
does not match adapter PCI Device ID (10DE.0041).
Firmware image PCI Subsytem ID (10DE.0204)
does not match adapter PCI Subsystem ID (3842.A347)
Error: Board ID mismatch.

I tried the le-gt15.rom with no success. Then le-u14.rom. It also gave me a similar message, but let me continue with the update. Reinstalled the drivers and now I'm running at 350/1100.

Still can't update to le-gt14.rom, but at least my card is flashed!

Thanks to everyone for their input and especially to THUGSROOK!

JasonandBecky I'm using the 66.81 drivers (happy with them).

Strange thing is, 9200 on the first run was kinda slow and after I uninstalled RivaTuner and reinstalled it, my next 2 runs showed 10300! That is too high a difference to be within a margin of error. My only thinking is that RivaTuner is somehow 'tied into' or part of the video card drivers or how it relates to Windows. And that part of it still thought it had the old 12 pipe card. I still find it hard to imagine this would gimp the performance of my new card anyway, but who knows...anyone else think that's true or not?

Aonic, I did uninstall my old drivers (tho not RivaTuner at first) and even driver cleaner in safe mode before installing my new card. I then bypassed the included eVGA driver CD and just went ahead with a fresh 66.81. Sorry, my card was from newegg btw not ZZF.

ps. I never OCed, can someone tell me how to get the 'Enable low-level Overclocking' greyed check box to be enabled in RivaTuner? I heard checking this will open up a new tab for OCing in nVidia toolbar.

If I get brave, my plan would be this (correct me if I'm doing something wrong):

- Flash with Thug's LE-GT 1.4 rev. 2 (fixed dual mode bug, I might have tried Ultra but not fixed bug)
- Unlock OCing via Riva Tuner 15.2
- OC my now 350 stock card to a cool 400, cross my fingers and be happy if it works!
- Benchmark/stress and compare

Do you need to uninstall drivers and driver clean before flashing the video card BIOS?

The dual mode works for ultra rev4 for me.. and thugs said he used rev4 for his U bios.

i modded the LE bios earlier and changed the ID to Ultra, and 350/1100
the ID changed but the speed did not
