Does the LE-GT bios lower core temps at all? I just installed my NV5 and it has lowered my ambient temps by 5 degrees but only 2 degrees on the core at idle. It''s a bit annoying, the NV5 can exhaust the heat right out of the back of the case on a GT, but this LE card has that huge plate on the back that covers the exhaust. Has anyone cut the bottom to get it to Exhaust out the back? That would really cool it down. I just don't want to be cutting on annything@!

idle temps should be the same no matter what LE-X bios is used.
they are all 350mhz core (2D) and 1.4v.

a while back we ran a test file using 1.1v and 350mhz (2D) ~ idle temps only went down a couple *C.
as im sure you know, running below 350mhz causes a couple of very nasty bugs for us.
....its a low as its gonna get

Would it work to simply delete the old GT 1.4v bios from the image and throw in this new one? Also, this GT Bios is Dual DVI right?

that would work if the file names are the same, if not rename it.

i have no idea if dual dvi works or not.
i cant test it myself and dual dvi feedback has been rather non-existant.

Johannie, Arctic-cooling now offers the NV5 with a replacement slot plate so you dont have to hack your original slot plate. I have the replacement, and it vents the heat out from the back, and makes a BIG difference, mine lowered almost 10degrees by doing so. Shoot them an email, and theyll send you one. They did for me.

Would two VGA Monitors using converters constatute dual DVI or do you acutally need two DVI monitors to test it?

but if it doesnt work with the converters, that would only show that it doesnt work with converters.
(there is a converter/monitor/cable issue with some 6800s dvi ports)

Thank you for the NV5 advice. I have sent them an e-mail from their website. I hope that I got the addess right as their web page is a bit strange. My temps have actually not changes at all which I am sure is do to the fact that it's not venting. Also, would arctic silver make a big difference? If it's only a degree or two I won't bother. Thank for your help.

Im using the NV silencer with AS5, and with the ultra bios my card runs at 45-50 idle...and arround 60-65 load. But with the GT bios, the temps increased by like 5 or so degrees. I dont know if spending the extra 10dollars on AS5 would be worth it, I wouldnt buy it, i got mine for free.

Mine has been idling from 50-57 and up to 74 under load with the cheap goo that came with the NV5- (no venting) I'm installing a new CPU tomorrow so I might pick up some AS5 as well.

updated to new LE- Ultra bios and i still dont have an auto detect option in riva tuner. help!

found the menu, i dont have an auto dtect in the default riva tuner menu. i have to right click on my desktop to get to the detect optimal frequencies.

THGUS, since you are on here, which bios is the fastest? LE --> GT or LE --> Ultra? or does it really make a difference?

edit: my card was auto detected at 454/1.2 i dont trust that core speed at all... gonna try to benchmark it though. i jsut did the meory at 1.2 and it ran flawlessly.

try autodetect while the card is hot
no, its not trustworthy.
only testing and time will tell you if its stable.

quick note: i was able to bench 3dmark03 and aquamark and run 15 min of RTHDRBL or wtf it is for 15 min for a quick test all back 2 back @ 450/1.2 no problems. I am going to actually try looping the tests and burn the card for 2 hrs in rthdryadwedflfol tomorrow for 2 hours before i declare it officially stable. I love my new card.

i really really wish I had an A64 system so I could see what kind of real performance I can get out of this card. My 2500 Barton at 220x10 is holding me back big time.

I don't mean to be a pain in the ass, but I have never seen an auto detect button in Riva tuner. I have seen it in Cool Bits. Where is it in Riva tuner. (I can't find it in any menu at all!) Thanks a lot guys.

i havnt seen it in rivatuner with this video card. the only place i find it is the coolbits area rivatuner unlocks.

becareful with RTHDRBL, it runs in a window so its not considered "3D" mode, so if you set high clocks for 3D mode only, and use RTHDRBL to stress it,your only stressing your 2D clocks.

i have a weird issue with 3d mark and I am curious if anyone else has it. In between tests when it is loading, the loading screen looks funny. It is kind of distorted but the tests actually run flawlessly. No artifacts, no problems what so ever. It is just between loading screens and it only happens on the GPU tests, they do not happen on the CPU tests. This also occurs from stock speed to overclocked speed.

Right now I am scoring 12.8k in 3dmark. I really want to hit 13k but my CPU is holding me back and it has a hell of a time doing 2.3ghz. Almost 2v is required for 2.3ghz. Anyone have any tips? I dont think I have maxxed out the card but I didnt want to push it much further, Ultra Extreme Speeds are great for me.

RTHdribl is the defacto max heat benchmark for vid cards.
