The latest CD has the GT1.4 bios on the disk, but under the auto flash menu it is not a selectable bios. YOu have yo go to custom bios to do it....something not everyone may know to do. Also, on the page that gives info on the two bios flash programs, "(rev 4.0) Self Installing Floopy Image for eVGA 6800 LE Modded Bios Kit " xÞ

I just downloaded the latest file from AONICS page.The ISO is named evga_bios_kit_4.... I burnt it to a CD using nero, rebooted, and ran it. It showed the two ultra files, 350 and 400, and the default LE Bios, as well as custom bios. I will give the floopy a try, i just trust a CD-Rom more.

Now here's the really odd part. I opened it up windows, and it looks as it should. Defualt, Ultra, Ultra, GT. No custom. I reboot, no GT, but there is custom. WTF?!?!?!


What I see in dos is waht eh screenshots look like on the page in your sig Aonic. It windows, it looks like it should. Any idea why? Also, waht drivers are you running that you got 5,500 on? With my Ultra 1.5 bios at 425/1100, I get like 4960 on an A64 2800+ at 2.2 and BH-5 (2-2-2-5)

I fixed my problem of Opengl games not rendering correctly. Out of despair I used a stock eVGA 6800GT bios and tried running my games. 3dmark ran ok, tested my games and they ran ok. Usually after I did this and went back to 3dmark, all hell would break loose. I went back to 3dmark and it was ok!! Ever since I have been playing my games just fine. I took the stock eVGA bios, only altered the core voltage to 1.4 and now I am chugging away happily in my Direct3d games and Opengl games at 450/1.2.

and for my very noobish question.
is there anyway to change how my card is recognized? I would like to have my computer say I have an Ultra Extreme for grins and giggles.

I thought that the stock Bios was 1.4 volts

Thanks again for that CD thugs. Woked like a charm. 3DM05 is not 5155, roughly 200 points higher than before. Thats clocked at 425/1100, whith the afore mentioned 2800+ @ 2.2 and 1GB Bh-5. Still seems low compated to the 5500's out there. Are you guys doing just the first 3 tests, or are you doing CPU tests also?

i run all my tests using HQ textures. (not plain quality)

game tests only ~ who cares about the rest?
...becomes a big waste of time when you run 3dm2k5 like 30 times a day

I will try both the 2-2-2-6 and 66.72 drivers (im on 66.81) . And aonic, thugs ISO worked like a champ for me, running the 6800GT Bios now. I have no idea why your disk displayed one thing in a command promt and another when I rebooted and tried to flash with the CD.

Also, I am running dual monitors on this. They are VGA using converters, does that coun't as dual DVI? They arent DVI monitors, but technially, I am using both DVI ports. If you wan't me to test other BIOS's, just let me know and I will. You'll just have to keep making me handy CD"s for my floopyless puter xÞ

lol, good point. I do the same tho, disable CPU tests. I see no point in em really. And np on the bios thing....remember if you need any more tested (still wokring on that GTU bios?), I would be happy to. Least I can do for the effort you put into ensuring I got the BIOS i wanted.

the Gainward GS projects GT file (different thread) does pretty much what i was looking for in a GTU anyway.

OK, I broke down and paid the $20 for 3dmark05 so I didn't have to run the other tests. The best that I have been able to do so far with the LE-Ultra bios is 5359 at 435/1200. I suppose that is pretty good. My new rig is:
Asus P4C800-e Deluxe
Intel 3.2c @ 3.8
1 Ghz Ram (Samsung)
Does my score seem low for my specs?

I'm off to try the GT Bios now. I'll Post later.

your score is spot on

expect another 200 points using the GT bios, assuming you can hold the 1200mhz mem with the tighter timings.

Well, the highest I was able to go at 436/1200 was 5485 on the GT BIOS which I think is pretty damn good. Well done Thugs and Aonic!!! Artifact free as well. I'm off to play CS Source now....after lowering my setting a wee bit . Thanks so much for your hard work guys!!! You have helped a lot of people out. You are awesome!
