Man o man!

My 6800LE would do about 345/1100 reliably without artifacts with the original BIOS.

I installed Thugs Ultra 325/1100 1.4v BIOS and have been stressing the crap outa the card at 425/1100 for some time now. I am too tired to push it further (if I will even bother its so fast now).

AMAZING!!!! 5k in 3DMark05~

Thanks a million Thug!

It really must be something goofy with the BIOS EVGA is using on the LE's.

Just wait till you apply some real current to it like 3dmarking or gaming with the 6800 and have system failure..hopefully nothing fries.

all modern processors and Vid cards draw from the 12V and combined with case fans and HDD's can easily exceed the bogus 18A rating. Crash. Then you think something else is wrong with your system when it's in fact the PSU.

I've had it happen... fried both antec and a koolmax before I discoved 12V rail was too low for my setup, after reading WTF was wrong. Here:

http://www.firingsquad.com/guides/power_supply/

IMO Need at least 25A 12v for heavy loads and OCing. Which is why when people ask I'll recommend Zippy/emacs, enermax, OCZ and a few other brands and that's it. They have high specs and are built to last and for enthusiasts.

The one above I linked is only $45!! No one can complain about that with the power it's giving. The enermax 350 is only $55 and gives a 26A 12 Volts rail.

I just checked his link, I also use a Super-Flower PSU. They aren't generic actually, they are made in the same OEM factory as Enermax, so they are essentially the same thing.

Just a FYI:
I flashed my card, using WFFLASH. (NVFLASH with the -5 -6 would still not work...)
After sucessfully flashing my card, I hit the reboot.

BLACK SCREEN!

I just about freaked out. But I noticed the computer successfully booting to windows. I hit the power button, it shut down gracefully and I tried again.
Still, black screen, no activity on screen but it boots fine.
Tried it again and FINALLY, it was okay. not sure why it didn't bring up a screen but it finally made it... (Third times a Charm...)

Currently running some benches at 376/1100... I'll be bumping this up to 400 shortly...

Everyone always says you need to get a PSU with more than 18A on the 12V rail to do some good OC'ing, but my PSU only has a 17A 12v rail, and I can OC mobiles to 2.6ghz with it on a rather mediocre HSF and prime em stable that way. Even under load, my 12v rail doesn't vary past 0.08v, so I don't understand. Maybe you guys are just being a bit conservative to play it safe?

hey ~ thx for all the great feedback ppl
its great to hear this is working for other ppl besides me

for 1.5v you need to flash the 1.5v file, no adjustments needed.
you will not need to reinstall vid drivers.

Shaotai ~ whew! glad you pulled that one out, id hate to see any sad stories

THUGSROOK, you have done some good work. What is the difference between your gt bios and evgas ultra bios? Besides core/mem clock. I see that your gt bios is faster, but ~3% is pretty ignorable with this cards level of performance. Just dont know if you have something set different or not.

I seem to have a bit of a problem.

I've tried both the GT and Ultra bios Thugsrock has provided and both give me artifacts (as well has higher fps) in doom3, source and 3dmark05.

Also, trying to OC with coolbits (I'm new to all this) and every test fails, including trying to underclock.

Is there something I am missing?

the LE-GT bios is faster all on its own. prolly has more aggressive memory timings then the LE-Ultra bios. nothing i did tho, thats the way they were performance wise.

yes, you have a problem.
sounds like your card just aint happy.

is your PSU good enough?
dedicated power line for your vid card?
remove and reinstall vid drivers?

I'm on an Antec Tue 430 (yeah, it's recieving two independant lines from the psu)

2500+ Barton
Abit KD7-S
gig of value ram
Audigy 2 ZS

2 CD-Rom
2 HDD

Running WinXP Pro SP2.

Just did a fresh uninstall reinstall of the latest drivers.

Now I will note that the Ultra bios you provide (1.5) seems to result in fewer artifacts from visual estimate then the GT.

I AM able to over clock the card using EXPERTool, the speeds show up in Nvidia's software after I make the changes and I seem to get the same amount of artifacts.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Oh yes, I'm also running dual displays on the card, could this have anything to do with it?

EDIT2: 3dMark05 results

Stock LE Bios: 325/1100: 3432
Flashed GT Bios: 325/1100: 3536
Flashed ULTRA Bios: 400/1100: 3915 (noticed a couple artifacts in the final card test, but nothing in the others... so I let the test finish itself)

EDIT3: Flashed ULTRA Bios: 400/1100 w/ 66.81 drivers: 4555

Ok got up today and decided to thugs le-gt 1.4v bios a try. It does indeedget better results. Reached my max OC at 461/1170. Thats a excellent OC for the core I just wish i could get more out of the memory. I thought the memory on most ultras got to atleast 1200. Anyways here are some numbers.

My ambient temp was 30-31...

This morning, it's at 29 and I'm idling at 51...

I just noticed something... My card was idling at 51, which I though was high.
Checked the clock speeds and everything was back to default, 325/1100.
I reset my OC to 400/1100 and it dropped to 45 degrees!! So Weird!

My peak temps when I had the core at 460 was 74c with a NV5. At its usual 400 it never goes above 68c and idles abotut 53c.
