I know that you have posted it a million times, but I have downloaded the .zip file that you posted for us...thank you. I'm not a noob to playing around with my computer, but I am very paranoid about messing with the bios for my brand new video card. As I understand it, I need to boot from the disk I made from the filein your .zip file. Then what? Is there anyway that you can simply post exactly what I am meant to do and type? i.e. Boot from disk and type "x" at the prompt. I really don't want to mess this up and your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

JOHN

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem:

Browsing certain web pages (this being one of them) the screen moves side to side just a little every few seconds. It only happens on certain web pages which seems really weird.

So is it safe to say that this 6800 LE is a darn great value?

At $325 with overclockable to 425/1100, could it be said that it is faster than 6800 GT and matching 6800 Ultra?

Cos I am thinking why would anyone go for 6800 GT?

ok so I flashed with his gt14 bios, and I'm clocked at 430/1150, with no artifacts but it doesn't seem to be running any better, maybe driver clean it?

Ok, I included instructions with the disks and i fixed the issue of them not working:

http://files.aonic.net/Arch/

just read the readme to find out what the zip contains and how to flash succesfully
tommorow I will be added some scripts to make it easier for people who messed up to flash without being able to see..
I will see how that goes and i will add a help menu
I will be making .bat scripts after like 4 years

ZipZoomFly has always been good to me, don't hesitate to buy from them. I gotta get my hands on one of these.

Vally, there are two places to get to the OC options, one on the right of "256-bit NV40....Customize" and one on the right of "ForceWare detected...Customize". The OC option is only accesable in the Forceware one.

Ah ok, so doing it thru Forceware button instead will open up an OCing menu in the regular nVidia toolbar? (I'm trying to avoid OCing via RT or Coolbits...even tho RT is 'opening' it up).

Aonic, is your GT 14 bios (thug's) the new rev. 2 dual mode fixed one?

Hello, I just flashed my 6800LE to the GT1.4 and I must say, I am impressed. When I first got the card, I had to actually underclock my ram to 1.05ghz or I experienced massive black block artifacts. I was also limited to 336mhz on core. After flash I am at 400/1100 and stable, still testing my limits. Thank you Thug!!

Also, when I flashed, I had to use a boot CD and could not make a backup of my original bios. Would anyone be so kind as to email or aim me a copy? PM me if you would be so kind, thanks in advance

I believe aonic was kind enough to include one in is boot disk. Just unzip it and copy the one you need.

Find it here: aonic/thug boot disk

So what is the final consensus on what BIOS to use? Thug claims the GT bios uses tighter memory timings, and you can then just OC the card to Ultra speeds and only 1.4V is necessary to do this?

I'm no expert, but that's what I have deducted from reading this forum all night. Hopefully my card will arrive tomorrow morning. I bought it on Ebay and I have been acting like a school boy waiting by the mailbox everymorning.

I'm going to flash the le-gt14.rom once I get my new card. Hopefully this is the best one. -Thug, if you are reading this, please feel free to correct me.

Thanks to everyone for all of your help

you are correct ~ the LE-GT 1.4v bios is the one youre gonna want.

if you want even more OCing go for the LE-GT 1.5v bios.

the LE-Ultra files are still available for those few ppl that just plain cant get anything else to flash onto their card. (but these files are slightly slower)

What does OCing seem to top out at with the 1.4 vs. the 1.5?

I thought someone said there was no gain from going up, yet you increase heat and in the long run more power = shorter life. I guess it depends on your system/cooling etc.

So maybe just something to play with. I suppose the solution is just to try it at 1.4 until you hit the max OC, then bump up to 1.5 and try for more.. if you get no gain, then just revert to 1.4 and stick with it.

Thug,

I know that there have been hundreds of posts, but has anyone figured out why eVGA released the Limited Edition card? It just doesn't make sense that it's a marketing ploy. Surely there has to be something not quite right.

I am so sorry to bother you, but I recently purchased what was described as:

eVGA Nvidia Geforce 6800GT Limited Edition

New and Sealed in Retail Box !

256MB GDDR - 256 Bit

Specifications:
Chipset/Core Speed: nVIDIA GeForce 6800GT/350MHz
Memory/Effective Speed: 256MB GDDR3/1GHz
BUS: AGP 4X/8X
Ports: TV-Out (S-Video/Composite) + 2x DVI
Support 3D API: DirectX 9, OpenGL 1.5
Max Resolution@32bit Color: 2048X1536@85Hz
Cable/Accessories: S-Video Cable, 2x DVI to VGA adaptor, 2x Power Cable, Manual, Driver CD,Retail Box

IS this the same card that we've been discessing here in the forum or have I found some bizarre new card with f***ed up stats? It is meant to arrive here today. What program should I run to check it's default settings?

Thanks very much

JOHN

Hah! You are one of the ones who outbid me on that card. I stopped going for it around 330 because by then I could just buy it from a retailer for 339 and get a little added security on returns/RMA. ow much did they end up going for? Last I saw was 340 i think.

To answer the question, yes.. the eVga 6800 Limited Edition is the card that is really an Ultra with a mothballed BIOS.

Edit: Use RivaTuner to check the stock settings. It will tell you the core speed memory bus and pipes that are currently open.

Sorry to bug again, another question. I am running stable in 3d mode at 425/1150 with 2d at 350/1150. Would it just be better to set my ram down to 1100 and keep the core 425? I dont really want to go higher than 425, and I notice many of you seem to be running 425/1100, and I dont want to lower the lifespan of my card (thats why I'm running the 1.4v version)

At 425/1150 I am running @ 54C Idle and 72C under load, and I cap at 430/1.5 or 425/1.8

Thanks in advance

It sounds more and more like someone fubarred the chips' BIOS and didn't realize these things can hit ultra speeds.
