wow rhagz, if you are doing a full system upgrade why didn't you think of going 2x6600gt SLI? Much better performance for just a little more money.

Anyhow, I can sit still waiting for this card. I have to keep checking fedex tracking even through I know that they only update it once a day. Damn I wish it was overnight shipping and not 2 day, grrr

Still waiting for ZZF to ship. It says being Packaged.

Now the news about 6800's VPU is disturbing.

yeah I ordered early morning (err 2 am) on tuesday and they shipped the card yesterday from the tracking info, yet the status didn't change from packed to shipped till this morning. The card should be here tomorrow, so zzf are very good as far as shipping on time.

A 6800Ultra AGP is still better than 2x6600GTs running SLI. NForce 4 will have growing pains, just like NForce3 did. N4 boards will cost 2x a NF3 board. There are lots of reasons, and I am pretty sure an NF3 system will be competitive for the next 2 years, and by then we will all be upgrading to 10800GTX Super megazoid cards on NForce8 chipset mobos, with 18gigs of DDR5 ram.

alright, i'm gunna build around christmas, so these are my questions:

Do you think i should buy this now and save it for a while because they are a good deal and may be out of stock soon.

Or, i think i'd be happy with a NU. I'd get a BFG maybe, because the clock speed and pipes dont concern me. Accually, this will probably have to last me about 3-4 years, so i want a good card. The ram is what i'm worried about, because i wanna play games like ES4: Oblivion, and i want less compression, and one of my friends said that the future is 256, because future games will use less compression.

If someone could help, plz do.

Oh yeah, specs of future rig:

AMD 3400+ 64
Asus K8V SE
PDP Patriot 2x512 mb pc3200 ram
120GB samsung SATA
Thermaltake Tsunami
Thermaltake Purepower 480 watt ps

The Ltd. Ed. is >> a NU. If you want to stick with AGP for a while, get this one while you can. I did it, and am not even gonna care about the overpriced unproven PCI-e SLI stuff. Can't afford, hell I could barely afford this, but I am sure it will run games just fine for the next 2 years.

i would get the 90nm 3200 or 3000+ with neoplatinum2 MSI mobo

that cpu + mobo combo seems to be very good in OC

ive seen some people @ 2.8 ghz with 1.62 volts @ 300 FSB with that combo using crappy pc3200 ram (changed ram speeed to 200)

so you reccomend the MSI board for nf3 socket 939? I have been struggling with this decision for days.. think I will go ahead and settle on the Neo2 plat then

ok first of all, clock speed and pipes dont concern you? Well they SHOULD start concerning you if you want your rig to last 3-4 years. They are probably more important to gfx performance right now then 128 vs 256 mem. If your friend actually know anything about gfx cards, he probably meant that 256 mb is better for future games then 128mb because of higher res textures etc...not that pipes or clock rates don't matter.

Yes i would say that you will be much happier with this card IF you can get it to be a 16pipe pseudo ultra. And as far as lasting 3-4 years, that is hard to do, but that depends on your definition of acceptable gaming. If you mean meet all minimum specs on games, then you should be fine for 3-4 years with this Limited Edition card.

If you do not plan to go with PCI-e, then yes.. this is the best AGP card you can possibly get. It is a great value, it can be bios flashed into an Ultra, which is the top of the line video card right now.

yep this is the best deal I have seen around for a long while. Getting a $500+ current gen card for less then $350 is fantastic. These are the type of deals that I look for to upgrade to the next gen gfx cards. That way you can sell your previous gen card and the hit to the wallet is not really that high.

If you already know that you're sticking with an AGP board, then contrary to common wisdom, I fear that you should get this video card first before you get the other core components. The Winchester cores should be in plentiful supply by then, and you will have the benefit of seeing any possible challengers to the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum as the best socket 939 overclocking motherboard.

No one should ever recommend buying a video card first, everything else afterwards. But ever since the paper launch back in August, these video cards have not dropped in price. With the lone exception of some 6600GT, wow, but those are only PCI-E.

ya, i'm not going for PCI-e, because there is no real gain over AGP right now. So you think i should buy it now and hold onto it for a while?

BTW, if i dont open it and a month from now decide i dont want it, would i be able to send it back to zzf and get my money back if it's still sealed in the box?

there are no returns on this product, only exchanges so no you can't get your money back from zzf. However, I am sure you can sell it on ebay or on the forums here no problem and get at least what you paid for it back.

Got my card today

Holy crap is this thing Huge compared to my 9700! :Q

Installation did not go great due to the fact that I had to move my hardrive so the IDE connector would be out of the way, and i'm going to have to re-wire loom my whole comp to get this power hungry animal what little scraps it is going to get from my 350watt Antec Smartblue.

Was able to run Q3 demo and 3DMark01 and everything looked good till I got to the last Point Srites test with the little Horsey and there were 3 or 4 square pixels revolving around the center like little sattlelites

The driver from the CD is version 61.34 I think, which one should I use? Riva Tuner did show 16x1 6vp and I notice on the contents info on the box they forgot to blank out the little tiny: includes 6800 Ultra

I need to get it on it's own powerline though, as I was sharing my hardrive on the same feed. So hopefully with the newest drivers, my registry cleaned up, and better power line feed, those little square pixels will be history, or my 350watt , one of the two.
