I had thought dual mode bug was fixed last week tho.... was that software fixed but not hardware/bios fixed? How does it function in a 'normal' Ultra? Ie, was that Xpert Tool software the only way for dual mode to work, but soon it may be done automatically thru the bios?

Well i just sent my card out to eVGA, $15 for Priority mail, insured, tracked :

I'm going to have to give them a call if they try to charge me another $12.

I hope I get a new card by next friday, one that works. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

yea we thought it was fixed too ~ turns out it was just working via software and not hardware.
then we fixed it again so it works in hardware, but its not working out too well.
most likely we will be abondoning the GT and Ultra files completely in favor of a single hybrid GT/Ultra file. (affectionately named GTU)

at this point we can fix the stock LE6800 file, we arent going to bother tho

I figured out why mine was not working. It had issues with my sound card either hardware or software, and also the 61.72 drivers were screwing up on top of all that. I was having extra problems as soon as I installed the 61.72's, may have gotten a corrupted download. I figured it all out when I decided to put the 6800 in my second comp at home, and it booted up with no issues.

I am going to re-format once more to make sure all the old soundcard drivers are gone, as well as the 61.72 drivers. Hopefully I can put all these hassels behind me and enjoy the card

Killrose,

Were you having artifacting problems at 325/1100?
Or what was your problem previously?

I managed to talk to ZZF's CS to credit back some shipping cost provided that the card I RMA'ed is defective.
I really hope it is not my computer that's making the card defective.

Hi there, I just got my 6800 LE yesterday. i went ahead and uninstalled the old drivers and then downloaded Forceware 66.81. installed the card and drivers,i also installed rivatuner 15.2 and discovered that all 16pipes and 6v were unlocked. at the beginning after freshing installing the card and drivers, and running a game for the first time - i saw weird white blocks artifacts in halo and doom3. i dont know whats wrong with the card. perhaps it needs to burn in? the problem is gone now. i reflashed my card to a 6800 GT and its at 425/1100.

3dmark2001 result
3dmark '05 result

im not sure at all if these scores really mean anything. i guess my next question would be, do my scores look ok? are they just about right? do they meet the minimum for todays standard? i dont know much about all of this, but, the 6800LE GT card works pretty well with most modern games i have played and i'm very happy with it. this is a good gfx card the best i have ever owned in terms of price, value, and performance all in one.

I really hope it is not my computer that's making the card defective.

Origionally I had all kinds of problems getting the card to work right at stock bios 325/100. The system would hang on a shut-off command, would intermittantly revert to 640x480 on start-up, and the only artifacts I had seen were 4-7 square colored pixes on the last point sprite test in 3dmark01. This was with the 61.34 driver that came on the CD.

When I installed the 61.72 driver it would boot 640x480 all the time and when I would re-load the driver and reboot, I would get a black screen.

I then re-formatted and once I had my MB chipset/dx9 loaded, I loaded up sveral benchmarks to test them out. 3dmark01/05 and Q3. All worked fine and dandy except for the little pixel problem with 4xaa and 8xaf enabled. I then started loading the drivers for my Aureal snd card and lan card. I had problems with the snd card and windows listed an error and stated that it would never load the driver because it was causing a problem. So I made it install it and that's when I started having problems.

I then loaded the latest driver for Win98se, the 61.72, and had even more problems.

So...I am going to do another re-format, and use a different snd card and see what happens.
In the breif time I have used it trouble free, I was running it 400core and 1200MHzmem playing BF1942 for about 2hrs with no problems.

Once I removed the video card and drivers, it seemed fine, but the 61.76 drivers I downloaded might be corrupted too, so I got double whammied I think. But yeah, it probably is not the sort of problem you would have using WIN XP.

I'm going to try the latest GTU bios, then re-format to clean out any snd card & 61.76 driver leftovers.

Aonic,
Sorry, I missed your question. I managed to get $5 credit. But they already re-state their policy that RMA's must be paid by sender.

Killrose,
Now I am worried. Let's hope my card is really defective, if not ZZF will start charging me when the card is perfectly working fine.

I have an Creative Audigy sound card. I know creative drivers are notorious for buggy drivers.

Do keep us updated how your card is doing. Try Win XP.

After putting back my Ti4200, my system seems to be crashing for no reason. Random reboots. It might have been the 66.72 and 66.81 drivers. I used the older 56.XX, still crashed. Then I don't really know what I did, it stopped crashing now.

How is this coming? Last I read on BE forums, the dude who tried this had bad/buggy results... Are you basically trying to keep the dual DVI functionality and everything from the Ultra while tweaking the memory timings to that of the GT? Any progress on fixing dual-mode to work thru BIOS and hardware?

I don't know if this was answered, and I try to keep up with all the posts, but I have a simple question Thugs: Does the original LE stock BIOS have dual mode? (core speed, voltage, fan speed switching) Cause if it doesn't, and remains at one setting, I think many of us would be content with it also at a constant speed on the modded BIOSes...

I have the 324 700 one from ZZF. This thing is a peace of crap, it shows to be overclocked at 400/1100, I tried 350/1100, 325/1100, but I am only getting 0-25fps in 3dMark05, around a 2500 score. Everquest 1 even looks crappy, I think my GeForce3 looks better than this thing.

So what are my options? Did I screw myself out of money? I am so angry, the second I ordered this peace of sh*t video card I ordered all of my new computer parts, so now I have a fancy PC but a peace of sh*t video card. I can RMA it, but they will probably send me another 323/700 video card. I can ask for a refund, but then I lose out 50 dollars, which if I wanted to lose 50 dollars I should have just bought a GT.

Argh, I tried everything. They emailed me the new bios from eVGA but the file came corrupted so I requested another one, I will see how that goes. Maybe it is just me, maybe I am doing this overclocking thing wrong, I did follow the instructions, I have no problem with it showing it being overclocked (399 core), but as far as performance goes, this card was not worth the money. My temps are only around 53c, this card even has it's own line of power from a 520watt PSU.

Any help? Suggestions?.

just calm down dude. These are good cards. All you need to do is get the bios files that thugsrook modded and flash your card with them. Then you will have the exact same performance (better in some cases) as a 6800 ultra. Also don't freak out over 3dmark05, everyone (even the people with 6800ultras and x800xtpe's) get around 25 fps in those tests. Just be realistic, this card is WAY better than your geforce3. The geforce3 can't even sniff 3dmark05 or even 3dmark03 or 01se for that matter. Do not go back 3dmarks, run some games and see that this card indeed rocks.

Dont bother with eVGAs bios. Download aonics ISO (or floppy if ya got one) and use one of thugs bios's. There are the 325/1100 LE bios; 1.3v, 1.4v, and 1.5v GT bios's; and 1.4v and 1.5v Ultra bios's. Unless you are useing dual DVI or have a fetish for the card posting as a 6800Ultra, flash with the 1.5v GT bios. It offers the tighest ram timings.

I tried aeonics disk, it still does me no good. I have no idea why my Everquest look so poor. Even clip plane is crappy, the only performace over my GeForce3 is no video lag, but graphics still look awful. I barely get any artifacts in 3DMark05, it is just slow with the exception of edges being jaggy. I built this PC mainly for Everquest 2, but if this card can not perform in Everquest 1 how can I expect it to perform in Everquest 2? Later today I will try BF1942, but so far I think my card may be defected.

I have not tried the 1.5v yet, I was afraid to try that type of voltage, will that voltage kill my card?.

I am running an AMD 64 3500 (90nm), 1 Gig 2 3 2 5 (I think) RAM, 200Gig SeaGate.

Just to get this clear, this is what I tried:

1.) Uninstall video drivers.
2.) Clean video drivers out entirely.
3.) Install new biod, always succesful (the message shows).
4.) Reinstall drivers.
5.) Frown at my crappy 3DMark05 score.
6.)

I tried almost all of the bios updates from Thug except the 1.5v, but I am afraid of ruining my card. I tried 1.4v 350/400 with no luck.

Sorry if my spelling is off, I have not installed my IE spell check software yet.

Thank you for the suggestions, I will give this a couple more days before I send it back. Everquest 2 is coming out very soon and I really don't want to send it back just yet.

If you just built a new computer, try getting the latest bios for your mobo.. make sure you install the mobo drivers, especially the AGP drivers

I did that yesterday, still no progression. I have not installed Windows SP2 yet, but I don't think that could be the problem.

Thus, Vallybally, and Aonic...regarding Dual DVI,

I am using the 1.4 GT BIOS (rev 2) and like others cannot fully use dual DVI (which is my usual configuration). If you need more detail, just PM me (Desktar).

To make a long story short, one of the two DVI outlets is read as connected by one of the two DVI monitors but does not produce any screen/desktop. When you first begin, a sinle monitor does produce your desktop, and both monitors are correctly identified. When selecting "Dual View", the screen does indeed "split" or "extend" such that the original desktop is spread over two monitors...BUT, both monitors do NOT produce images, in spite of the software seeming to send the message to the card that two images should be displayed.

Has anyone attempted Dual DVI using the 1.4 Ultra or 1.5Ultra versions. One would think that if the card thinks it is an Ultra, then it would activate the dual DVI mode, whereas if the card thinks it is a GT (and eVGA does not yet offer a dual dvi GT), then perhaps it searches for the second display as a VGA...which I admit does not make any sense to me. But hey, all I do is hope for the best.

I look forward to the GTU version; in spite of the better timings, like Vallybally, altering the Ultra might be a better starting point. I can live with less than ideal timings as long as dual DVI is working.

Thank you,
Deskstar

we did get a report that the LE-Ultra bios can do dual dvi, and the LE-GT cant.
we personally cant test dual dvi cause we dont run it.
i know both of my ports work (LE-GT) ~ but i dont know if they both work at the same time.

if the LE-Ultra bios cant run dual dvi, i doubt anything will. (all Ultras are dual dvi)

Thugs,

OK I will flash to LE-U14 and see what happens. Have you tried any of Anonic's BIOS revisions to see how they compare?

Thank you,
