So you pay for half of something, and your parents pay the other have and then you wait till Xmas to open? I'm not judging that at all, just asking if that's how you do things.

with all the time you've wasted arguing with us and probably your friend, you could have saved enough money for an xbox.
that's the sad thing.

some family traditions are different, can't criticize that...especially when you deserve no say in the matter.

I don't fooking WANT the Xbox 360, how many times do I have to say it? I don't even care if my friend gets one or not. It's not arguing if one side just keeps repeating the same thing, for example, "D00d why can't you wait to play the 360? Stop whining!". Again I'll say, I don't care if I never get to play the 360 for the rest of my life. Just read some of my replies before you reply to my OP.

I haven't even mentioned it to my buddy since he first told me about it, I never criticized him or that method of buying gifts. All I said is that I thought was weird and wanted to see if anyone else thought it was an odd thing to do. I know now it's not an odd thing to do, and that many people do it.

what a dumb tradition.

Heh, finally someone who sees things correctly. This thread shouldn't of been about the 360, it was supposed to be about family holiday traditions and if they're kind of kooky or not. Since I celebrate Christmas I feel I can ask the question. I didn't know that method of buying gifts was so common, but people really missed the point (with my OP not helping much). I'm still wondering how everyone skipped this line of text in my OP:

I'm not dying to play it ASAP or I would of bought one a long time ago, I can wait till Xmas easily, that's not what bothers me.
- Shouldn't of that been just enough to show people I don't care about the 360?

If you really want this to be over, why do you keep bumping it?

I keep having to defend my self and straighten out everything, but people are stubborn bastards apparently. If someone really wants this thread to be over with, they can just choose not to reply. Everytime someone replies, it bumps the thread, and gives me an opportunity to have a rebuttal, assuming the post was directed at me.

You bumped this thread after 26 hours of no activity. It is of my opinion that you do want the flaming to continue, as you have nothing better to do...

And I must say yet again as I am sure you missed it the last time I said it.. It isn't "should of" it is "should have" Same goes for "could of" and "would of"

Buy a dictionary or see one for free online. Google is your friend

You bumped the thread after it was mostly dead, from what I've read you appear quite sick in the head...

nah this isn't too weird. Some people give presents months in advance and tell you "this is for xmas" but when it is a month away give or take 2 weeks some ppl still wrap it even if they know what it is. If i gave you something 2 months in advance and you played it, it wouldn't feel like an xmas present at all especially once xmas came. Also if we were family and everyone opened their presents and you didn't get one from me ppl would ask why and i would have to say "i got him somethign 2 months ago" it just isn't the same and it would look weird, to my family anyway. Also there is my mom, she has done it before where she got me something i wanted early and said it was for xmas but once xmas comes she feels bad buying things for everyone else that she gets me yet another present. SOOO yeah it is normal, it is just how they do it, it is a way of making it an actual xmas present and though you aren't suprised you have to wait and you will say ty when you open it with the rest of your presents

gifts are given on new years not on christmas. Thats when santa comes. He has nothing to do with christ. But people cant w8 till new years and so they exchange them on christmas day. Tell that to your friend to freak him out. Tell his mother if you REALLY want to freak him out.

and about all the people that attacked you? do not worry about them man. they dont even know that gifts are not exchanged on xmas. They truelly believe its the traditional thing to do whereas in reality its just wishfull thinking. Remember these are the same people who think santa-claus is a tradition and that he brought gifts to celebrate the birth of jesus. We are talking major popular missconception here that i see some people defend blindly and frankly a bit aggressively.

Remember that people will always get hostile when they think you are dissing their customs. I know you didnt but they keep coming back saying you did. Thats paranoia for you.

I'm joining late into the thread, but I read the OP's initial post and immediately thought he sounded like a crybaby. I like how he's now trying to convince everyone the post was about the method of giving gifts when the whole post was one big rant about how he is upset he has to wait to play his friend's 360.

jesus some guy asks about family traditions out of curiosity (nevermind trying to use his friend for playing games or finding their rituals "weird") and he gets flamed.

agreed. No matter what the post there are those who will get it wrong and nomatter how hard the OPs may try to explain themselves the accusers insist in their original missunderstanding. My personal opinion, for what its worth, is that this happens due to the "american pride". You lot are so proud than half the time you get offended and the other half you swear at someone for saying something completely different to what you undestood. You will never back down because that would mean admitting to your fault. You cant have that can you? Maybe it would help if instead of the eagle you had some less proud animal for a crest. Something more down-to-earth. Like a snake. That would also justify the venom that spits from your mouths (refering to the people that went berzek after the origianl post on this thread).

I might be more inclined to say human pride, but thats probably just my American pride speaking.

Really, shut up - Doesn't even look like you read the whole OP.

I did but your whining is the only part I understood.

Cliffs:

1. Friend buys X360 with grandma
2. They wrap it up for Christmas
3. You bitch about not being able to play it
4. More bitching
5. Some whining about how he spends his money

What part about that is wrong?

Your a god damn moron, that's what's wrong. Just like all the other idiots who call everyone else whiners/bitchers in every thread about anything. Now you've made this into an argument thread when there shouldn't of even been anything to argue about. I just can't believe how stupid you are.

Now there's a first at ATOT, someone who can't spell calling someone else a moron

Your friend can do whatever he wants. If he wants to open it as a gift with his family that's his business, not yours. You're just a greedy mooching asshat.

in defence of the badspeller: spelling mistakes are often attributed to dyslexia (various degrees) which has nothing to do with intelligence. Some of the brightest minds of our time can't spell for **** due to dyslexia.
