I'm trying to install a new primary hard drive in my PC and for some reason, the BIOS sees it as the Primary IDE with my DVD drive as the slave. For some reason though, when i try to install vista from a clean install, it doesn't see it at all and is asking for drivers. I've had to do that with my old Sata drive that crapped out and it finds that fine, but the EIDE drive just isn't seen whatsoever.
When I booted the CD that came with the drive (Western Digital 160gb 7200rpm Caviar SE), it says it gets no response from it, despite the Bios seeing it.
I'm running a Asus p5n32-sli deluxe with a pentium 920. Nothing has changed from my original configuation, just replacing the hard drive and obviously using an IDE cable. I've tried 3 seperate cables as well, still no response.
thank you for any help.
