I ran einstein last night and had about 5 to 6 failed computations, is that normal?

I dont believe I have ever had any failed units. Not normal for me, and I have not heard of any problems with anyone else. No other projects fail?

Funny you should mention that, I've just returned one for Einstein, my first I think

I think it was because of the show graphics button, it appears they have problems with it.

My first impressions of boinc and einstein@home are not very good. It appears that you can only get 8 work units a day, what happens when 6 of them fail? That means your computer can only work on 2? Now that #7 has failed my computer can only work on 1. Not impressed one bit.

You guys may lose me before I even start.

I can't say as I've ever noticed a failed work unit in all the time that I've been doing the Boinc E@H project! Certainly, I've had credit take weeks to process thru and change from pending to results, but that's explained by other processes.

I would have to assume it's boinc, as i had 2 more failed work units last night.

Only problem knows about with Einstein@home is if you're trying to display graphics...

I used to display the screensaver for a long time and then realized *DUH* that I'd get better times if I turned it off - generally 20 to 30 mins per WU, even with the screensaver having been set to 1minute previously.

I suppose it could be because of my oc'd P4 3.0 at 3.7. LOL

I've tested it on 5 other crunchers and it seems to be running fine.

Then it could well be the overclocking.

I have a Northwood(?) P4 1.6 that will overclock to just over 2.4 if I use it for web-browsing and light duty stuff; but with E@H, the highest I can do is 2.13 GHz for stable performance. And that's actually the only rig I do overclock - all the rest are stock.
