Didn't see this anywhere and thought it might be useful to anyone, like me, who just bought Oblivion but had not tried out Morrowind yet.

I ended up getting Black and White for $4.90 but there are a bunch of other cheap games you could try out for the heck of it.

Update 2: Just figured out that this version is an import version of the game. I don't think there is any difference in terms of content, but I wanted to make this update for anyone who bought the game or are thinking of buying it.

i put 1,200 hours into Oblivion ... i'd hate to see what i'd do in Morrowind.

and B&W2 ran great for me in Win2K ... you MUST have the latest patch or it is a bugfest.

1,200 hours in oblivion? Morrowind will consume you. Granted the people are a bit less interactive and the graphics are lackluster in comparison, but the world is SO much larger and more immersive. Oblivion was an insane disappointment due to the relatively short story and small size. I have easily 1000+ hours in morrowind and i've never even completed the main story line and i'm not even close!

Edit: If you do pick this up, you'll want to try and locate a comprehensive and balanced mod package such as Hydrosqueege's (if anyone wants this PM me, i've got it privately hosted) to pick up on the last few years of improvements.

GOTY means it has Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon (base + 2 expansions), the normal edition is Morrowind alone. This is the one you want!

Yes, but there are 2 different gold box GOTY versions (by different publishers also I believe). Hence the question on actual game contents.

I believe there is no difference except in packaging. The more expensive GOTY version is in a larger box and the other one is in one of those slimmer DVD cases or case sized boxes.

Has Oblivion even been out for 1200 hours? Yeesh! At 40 hours a week, that's 30 weeks, or 7 months. The game's been out 7 to 8 months...

i played morrowind 2 years ago. got into it, thought it was great...then immediately loathed it. why? i guess i got sick of wondering if i had to increase my "happiness" stat or focus on my "constitution" stat or wtf that means. ...or maybe alchemy? way too detailed. don't get me wrong; i love detail in an rpg. but at some point...you really have to cut it down to achieve some sense of balance.

that, and too much running back and forth, to opposite ends of the map, to deliver messages to people. tedious and boring after a while.

why didn't they have a "self-gratification" stat? they should...

I'm bumping this thread to alert anyone who bought or are thinking of buying Morrowind that this is the import version of the game. GoGamer didn't advertise it well enough, but the (I) behind the title indicates that it's an import. I didn't make the connection until I saw the game under the UK Import section.

Anyway, I don't think there is a difference in terms of content versus the US version, but if anyone knows please post to the thread. Also keep this in mind if you plan to install future patches.

In any case, my only concern here is if there is some content or features that got censored, like the kids in the Fallout games being completely removed in the European version. One of my greatest joys while playing fallout was to plant live bombs on my character and letting the those bastards orphans pick pocket me only to get blown to bits.
