The hardest part for me right now is picking and staying with a class. I have terrible Altidis. I've always had it and I don't see it being cured anytime soon.

With only 4 classes you can easily play all of them... I'm in no rush to 50 so have started all of them. But with the different skill combinations, the problem I see if you could have 8 toons of the same class but using completely different skills/weapon/armor. They've given us a new cunundrum for altidis sufferers.

That has been a problem for me in the past but not with this game. With only 4 classes and not a whole lot to distinguish them I find it very easy to focus on my templar.

Any class can dps, tank and heal if skills are spent wisely.

Yah pretty much. The only difference between characters are the 3 class skill likes and the racial passive skills. That is it. Everything else is the same so really the need to go beyond 4 "alts" you play for each of the classes is silly. I have all 7 for bag space purposes, but that is different I don't plan on playing those alts. They are just there for inventory management.

But all you really need is a character for each class to try the different skill lines and possibly in each "faction" as well. Although since you go through the other faction quests and zones once you hit level 50 as veteran versions of those very same quests, it is almost silly to have different alts in different factions well. You aren't going to miss out on anything. You won't see any drastically different game play at all.

Why? If I want to try out a different weapon or armor set on my character I just put them on the character I am playing. It doesn't take any more time for my main to acquire the skill points needed to use that different setup than it would take me to build an alt up for it.

Crap after all the positive stuff I heard about ESO here I bought it...but looks like I'm one of the unlucky ones that's going to constantly get disconnected. About 10 minutes into character creation I was disconnected...and it happened the first two times I tried to create my character (haven't tried again yet). This was at noon mind you...when the servers are probably much less busy.

EDIT: Anyone heard any status updates about the constant disconnects for some people? Definitely something wrong with ESO as I never have connection problems with LOTRO, Tera, WOW, etc.

Probably not what you want to here but first update your drivers if it's not already done. Video, sound, anything that is used to play games on your PC.

Reboot and try again. I don't know if there's a way to check for corrupted files with the game launcher but if there is you should try that too.

Last night was the first time since launch I was able to play for 4+ hours straight without any disconnects, so they are doing something.

I wouldn't worry about trying reinstalling or any other thing 'on your end'... it's simply their servers being pounded and dropping clients. Unless of course, you are on dialup or usually have a bad connection.

I've only had 1 disconnect problem since the head start launch. I went into a solo instance dungeon quest. The one to rescue Thaln. I had spent 20 minutes into that dungeon when I got kicked out to the character select screen. The entire 20 minutes of my last bit of playing was completely rolled back. Think the CPU that picked me up for that instance stopped communicating properly with anything else on Zenimax's server farm setup. Which means nothing I was doing was being recorded to their database. Eventually it dropped or rebooted the CPU I was on and I got a roll back for it. It sucked but oh well.

Other than that I haven't experienced any significant disconnection issues except that first day of head start launch. That day I had disconnect issues for sure along with everyone else.

I only had the disconnect issues during the last beta weekend, after i updated my video drivers they went away (except in Cryodill when there are a lot of people)

You can't follow a road from Auridon to Grahtwood for respec since Auridon is an island. You have to travel by boat which isn't opened up until you complete a quest at around level 15 to open. You can get there if guild mates or friends that are higher level are already there. Then you can port directly to them in grahtwood and head over to the major town to respec.

Ahh, well I should have prefaced it depending on faction, for EB you could walk to the 2nd major city

Anybody know if this game offers any real challenge at end game? Is there a long gear progression at max level or are best-in-slot items available pretty quickly to everyone like in Guild Wars 2?

Started a Dragon Knight and leveled him to 6. Great and fun abilities so far but still feels it lacks something. I think I prefer the Templar more.

One cool think I just discovered is that the bank is shared with all your toons. At last someone thought about it!

So is this game any different from other MMO games or just the same old shit in the Elder Scrolls world? Im a huge fan of TES and want to try this out but given I have never liked any MMO its hard to drop $60 to test it out.

Ive tried WoW and SWG and thought they were boring, just a bunch of mindless shit quests "go here and kill that thing", "go pick this up". Is there anything that makes this different than a typical MMO?

Plus that site is the owner of the only add-on I use called FTC. It adds what IMHO the game should have in the first place which is floating damage numbers. It also shows what hots you have and how long till they expire and same for any debuffs from an enemy.

When I'm in a group healing it's really nice to have.

This reminds me that DAoC had a similar issue back when Firor worked at Mythic. It only hit a few people but it was maddening if you were one of them. The symptoms were that the game would play fine for a little while and then the connection indicators would go red and you would drop.

The solution turned out to be changing a TCP checksum setting in the adapter properties. I think it was disabling checksum offload. Once you changed that setting the problem disappeared.

I wonder if they used the same netcode? (only half kidding).

Yeah, I was not a fan of early DK, his class skills are lackluster for the early part of the game - the pull in, the spiked armour and the knockdown. The knockdown is nice but DK starts with no real punch.

It's even worse if you go 2h because all you have is an AoE early on, followed by a charge, so nothing but left clicks while in combat.

Regarding your Templar, looks like the points haven't gone wrong at all, the only thing I would do different is not have put a point in both weaponskills, but that is a minor difference and irrelevant in a few lvls time when I would put a point in a second skill line.
Aedric Spear line and Dawn's Wrath gives you lots of damage juice to hit with.

Im terrible in these games when it comes to altidis. Now this game with 4 classes but like a million ways to build each class has me going in all directions
