No, if the allegations are true, the cops did treat this poor grandmother like an animal.

It is often hard for me to believe that LEO is allowed to get away with these kind of overreactions (to put it politely) and manage to stay out of prison, much less keep their jobs (that are clearly poor suited for).

Call the cops whenever the bank thinks some customer is hurting their image thus hurting their profits. The police dept. should severely discipline those LEOs that mistreated Mrs. Stevens so it doesn't happen again and get that bank to pay off her loan plus punitives. So among others, the question at hand is if she would have been treated any different if she were a 70 year old white woman instead of being black? Answer seems pretty obvious to me.

That is insane. I still don't understand how the funds were not available within 24 hours when the deposit was made in cash. I understand with a check, there is a verification process and a holding time (7 to 10 days) for any potential bounced checks, but this was a $600 cash deposit.

That's not what I meant with "fix your title". It was saying "banking while bank" before and it confused me, I see the OP has fixed it now.
