There is a greatelection article that i have been looking up for ages, ever since i saw it on slashdot almost a year ago. It is long but really interesting.
It essentially says that of all of the systems possible, the winner take all system is the least effective, but very predictable. Other systems such as instant run-off are much more effective but have the potential to be quite perplexing when the results are tabulated.
This may be the single most effective way of increasing the equitability of the American voting experience, much more effective than electronci voting IMO.
