BAsed on county returns in New Mexico, I can see NM going for Kerry, making a late push in some Kerry counties...

"we're hoping to cut the lead down to about 50,000 by the end of tonight.. then we will count on the 250,000 provisional ballots to put us up and give us Ohio, and the White House"
that was when Bush was only leading by about 100,000....

Its sad that Republicans don't care what the actual vote total is. Its safe to say the President won't win the popular vote by 4 million.

I smell troll. 47 posts on the day you join all in P&N...
As I previously posted, I have been around the forums for a considerable amount of time as Aegion, to make a long story short I forgot my password and had changed email addresses in the meantime, so I decided that since I didn't have a huge postcount here I'd just re-register.[/quote]

My apologies.

hard fought campaign on both sides. Bush clearly won Ohio and easily won the popular vote. Republicans gained more seats in the senate, up to 55-44-1. Obviously this country is trending Republican heavily the last 10 years. GO BUSH, FOUR MORE YEARS.

While I am happy that it looks like Bush will carry Ohio and the Electoral College, I sincerely hope that Kerry won't drag this out and turn this in to another 2000 debacle. The provisional ballot count in ohio is anyone's guess right now, plus not all of them are going to be validated. Kerry would have to have basically 100% of the validated ballots just to make it even close. The race is over.

Not to offend, but what really gets me is all the people saying things like "they need to stop the drama...Bush wins Ohio" and the like...

ALL votes count...in any state. Until they are ALL counted, there IS NO WINNER. It would not be fair to say that Bush won anything or Kerry won anything untill all the votes are counted. What i one of the votes that wasn't counted was yours? Would you still feel the same about it?

CNN did do some rather "creative financing" when calling the states last night....they would wait till the polls closed and declare a winner of said state. But (online) if you clicked on that state, NONE of the precincts had reported in....strange.

We will probably see 2000 all over again. So sit back, strap in and get ready for the ride...

now everyone's for him.

LOL - that's because they were cursed at, beaten, and kicked by supporting him.

I couldn't believe some of the things I heard yesterday on the radio about certain polling places. People were kicked out and not allowed to vote for having a Pro-Bush T-shirt?

In most elections, the incumbent generally gets beaten up. Its the popular thing to do. But the previous message is totally on-mark...I'm very happy to see that the networks haven't "projected" anyone as winning yet. They learned from last year, and if there's anything else we've learned - even more so this time around - every vote counts!!

136K Bush's lead in Ohio with about 146K provisional ballot. Mathematically its still possible for Kerry to capture Ohio. Real life chances? Very bloody unlikely. Why do they want to drag it ala 2000 is beyond me.

It's cystal clear

Bush 288 Kerry 252

Not Crystal Clear yet....still a little cloudy...like a glass shower door...with some soap scum on it (ie: Bush's brother being governor of FL...and 2 yrs in a row Bush wins FL....hmmm) LOL

Will be at least 10 more days before they know what the outcome of Ohio is...that's how long they have to wait to count the provisional ballots...

politicians who conceded and those who didn?t

Pete Coors is a gentleman. Trailing by less than 50,000 votes out of nearly 1.8 million and with 12% of Colorado's precincts yet to be tallied, Pete nevertheless took a calm look at the numbers and called Ken Salazar to concede. Classy.

Contrast that with Tom Daschle, Tony Knowles and Betty Castor, and of course John Kerry. No reasonable interpretation of the data in any of these races can give any of these candidates a win, but they are hanging on.

This is not the conduct of a great party, but it is also not surprising for the party of Michael Moore. What an example for the new democracies in Afghanistan and Iraq. Perhaps sleep will bring wisdom to this group. Sleep, and a good ahrd look at what Al Gore has become.

With the pick up of a net four seats in the United States Senate, the GOP is in a position to force votes on the president's judicial nominees. That is the major story for next week, after a concession is wrong from Kerry.

Congratulations President Bush, the first president since his father to carry a pure majority of the popular vote.

So now it's "classy" to concede?

That's not the America I grew up in...stick to your guns...stand up for what you believe in. Fight for it if necessary. If concession is classy, then all cowards are classy, in my book.

"Gee, Your Honor...I know that I didn't commit this crime, but when I look at the overwhelming preponderance of circumstancial evidence you have against me, I guess I should just plead guilty."

As if.

I'm not from the USA -- can anyone please tell me plain and simple why the entire midwest / south belongs to bush?
Is it the "funadamentalist religious groups" "rednecks" "NRA?" "act of god" -- its all so bizarre.....
I knew it wasnt good when our Australian prime minister was re-elected last month, known to be a huge lap dog of bush, In a landslide victory too

who are these "fundamentalist religious groups" .... do they like war ? or are they just so conservative ... eg oppose abortions and gay marraiges that they'll vote republican no matter what?
I just want some constructive responses --- No "we're fighting the war on terror" or crap like that, i've heard it all before

But in this case, there's no chance for Kerry to win. Whats the purpose of holding out and delaying the inevitalbe? Just out of spite?

Americans just don't like to be threatened. They don't respond kindly!
