Even though I've got a Mach-e sitting in the drive I'm still really considering going through with my lightning reservation for a Pro. Keep the EV credit and flip it. There's no sales tax in Oregon. I'm sure demand is enough that people will pay close to sticker.

imo, the Mach-E is the best EV on the market right now, car-wise. Great creature comforts & an absolute joy to drive! However, I think the Lightning is going to surpass that because of all the features it has. My only complaint is the range (supposedly 230 & 300 miles). The primary reason I'm interested in the Cybertruck (vaporware for another year, at least!) is for the 500+ mile battery. Although some articles are saying that the Lightning could potentially hit 400 miles with an empty bed, which would be pretty compelling!
400 miles is a pipe dream. Never going to happen. Unfinished software running in unrealistic conditions yields BS range estimates. Expect a few percent over rated at best. TFL's tow test on the R1T is a great example of this with almost 300 miles range predicted at 16% SoC IIRC.
Viper GTS
The Chevy will cost you a whopping +$100K for the first year's units. Chevy already stated they were going to sell the upper trim first, which I think starts at a ridiculous $107K.
to finish your comments viper.
totally agree with you. i'll need to see this with the Chevy and Ford before I could commit. Towing over mountain passes is something we do on the regular.
we drive the routes they are talking about on the regular.

yea, so you can buy an electric Denali for the price of.... a Denali.
and the top end ford is 90+ as well...
and the top end cyber truck will be similar I am sure.
GM also said they are starting with the top end model and the fleet model.
why does GM get so much flac for the price and you forget that everyone else is in the same ball park?
Well, Ford and GM do have their loyal redneck customers that will pay anything to get whatever is popular so they can keep up with their redneck neighbors. Now add to this idiots with more borrowed money than brains and I'm sure it'll be a winning situation--especially if you artificially keep inventory low of other products.

Auto manufacturers and the ad agencies they hire are excellent at parting people and their money - convincing people that they need to buy the land barge. The people of your town (and many others) would have been better off buying less vehicle and a cowboy hat.My town is full of white collar dudes driving Raptors and other F150 trims in the 70-80K range and that's before they start bolting shit onto them.
I just want the base Pro to give a little more wiggle room for weekends in the summer.
I can fit 4 paddle boards in the Mach-E but it's awkward. And when we are done there's sand and water everywhere. Be nice to chuck them in the bed when done. Plus I don't have a factory hitch on Mach-E so hauling bikes is a pain in the ass. That was a major miss on Ford's part.
Do they offer an option to get one installed? The Y didn't come with one initially, but Tesla offered it as an aftermarket option with integrated wiring harness. Would also give you the option to get a rack for your paddle boards.

It's consumerism. It's why marketing and sales pay better than engineering and production.I've never really thought about it quite like that before, but that's exactly the perspective that a lot of buyers have! I know people who do this for cars, clothing, etc...they'll spend every last cent they have to buy into the bleeding-edge, most-popular gear available! I understand the drive...it's easy to make bad financial decisions & it's easy to be driven by what the crowd thinks, but man, I know a LOT of people who are paying $900+ a month for their vehicles who are not in a financial position to do so, all so that they can "feel" cool. It's the American way!
Pretty competitive.Range without payload:
* 230 miles Regular
* 300 miles Platinum
* 320 miles Extended Range (XLT, Lariat, and fleet-only Pro)
Ford is a joke, maybe two. $70K starting price? For up to 230 miles range?
