Just walked into EB today and asked for the coupons, They gave me a sheet with all the coupons on it. 1 of each (8 total).

They had a stack of em there

$10 for any DVD that looks like the best one, especially after getting those free crappy DVDs with my DVD player

I went in to EBX in Old Orchard (IL) today to do that 2 DVDs for LOTR offer (traded in Almost Famous and Memento). They had a huge stack of those coupons on the front desk and I took 3 sheets. I'm probably going to take advantage of the free Oddworld (I have a Shrek game I really want to get rid of) and trade in some crappy western DVD for $10.

One of those "Deal" stores is selling DVDs for 1.99.... anyone remember which store? They all suck...seriously...but that's the way it works! Anyhow, I wanna trade in 10 crud DVDs, Xbox, and halo to get PS2 and one game. How much do they give for a trade in Xbox?

Can someone clear this up? Can I turn in "ANY" dvd? I found these off brand generic DVDs containing various versions of childrens stories "Like Disney". These are completely legal from what I see and only $1.50 each.

If this works I can get $130 off of any Video card for $15.

Well, the coupon doesn't say anything about if they have to accept the DVD or not (some of the other ones say things like "Some exclusions may apply.") Though it does say "See sales associate for complete details." But I'm wondering too, could anyone clear up if we could make some store credit/$ off of this? Any DVD should mean ANY DVD...

Here's what I found out:

ANY DVD may be traded in EXCEPT for those labeled "PLX" by EB's computer system.

However, it doesn't mention which are mentioned as PLX!!

I think Best Buy has WC3 Collector's Edition for $63 (20% off) if you don't want to wait til thursday for EB.

..And I don't know if you can use the 10% off coupon, but if you do, it comes down to $57.xx, so that's a good deal.

I can't tell you which DVDs will be acceptable for trade in, but after working at my local EB a few years back, I can tell you that they cannot be generic DVDs that you find for extra cheap. The company has a list of DVDs that they think they will be able to resell after the trade in, so if you bring in a noname movie, it's safe to say they're not even going to consider it. However, there were times where if a DVD was not on the list we could still take it back at the managers discretion under a generic DVD sku. So if you think something is borderline, bring it in anyways and see what happens.

Went down there today and did my 2 dvds for lotr (after arguing with the manager over the phone of another EB for about 10 minutes who claimed the deal didn't exist, even though my friend already had his pre-order in there through that deal), and picked up a coupon sheet. The $10 for any dvd coupon is definetly the best one!

I'm guessing that the list of DVDs that they will accept is the same (or at the least, very similar) to the list that they would accept for the LOTR preorder... can anybody confirm on deny this?

I called my local EB yesterday and asked them which DVDs they accept as trade-in, and they said pretty much any DVD, but then I asked the same CSR about the LOTR trade-in deal and he had to put me on hold and go ask someone, so I guess we should take that morsel of info with a grain of salt. Going to go in today and trade in Def Comedy Jam All Stars 3 and a Family Issues Tour '99 for LOTR today. I'll try to get more information on this, but I have a feeling DragonMage is correct.

They carry the GeForce TI4200 for 229.00. If I trade in 10 dvds and receive 100.00 credit and purchase the card less the 30.00 discount wouldn't that make the card 99.99??? If that were true I'm getting myself a GeForce4 TI4200....

about "any DVD ?" questions: it's probably NOT "ANY" DVD.

I tried yesterday to do the "trade 2 DVDs for LOTR dvd" deal.
I only had time to drive to BB, buy 2 cheap DVDs, then drive to EB and ask for the deal, and then go to work.

Turns out the DVDs I bought [4.95 each] weren't listed --> I couldn't make the deal

So I will have to buy LOTR at the regular price unless I can find another good deal like this with a DVD list...
(I will use the search function tonight for this, right now I have to go to work. No flame, please )

I missed the deal on the 2 used dvds for LOTR. I might take advantage of the $10 credit for used dvds. I'll trade in 2 used dvds for $20 credit. They sell LOTR for $22.99. Do they Pricematch? Will they pricematch Walmart's price of $15.99?

For me instead of trading in my dvds for credit, i'll just save them for preorder trade in deals like Lotr. I'm about to do the 2 for Spiderman deal. Their new and upcoming dvd prices seem to be very high($22.99 for LOTR and $21.99 for Spiderman).

No, you will not be able to do this b/c it will be a combination of deals and the coupons state "Cannot be combined with any other offer". When I talked to another CSR at the store today, he said I could trade the DVDs in for a gift card, so what you could do is get the credit at one store and put it on a gift card, and then go to another store and use the $30 coupon. Of course, you could always try sweet-talking the CSR at the first store.

EB had a list of games that they don't accept for trade-ins. This consists usually of the first generation titles and also the previous sports titles games including the 2002 titles. Good luck. I'm pretty sure Shrek is on this list, just try calling your local store and ask them if it's on this list.

Yes, this is true, Advocate. In fact, when I talked to that CSR, I asked him if I could trade in 15 and get me a GameCube, and he said, sure, I can do that for you. I think this will all depend on the luck of the CSR draw, but they will most likely do it for you since this will be a big event for them. Good Luck everyone! I hope I get a GameCube outta this!!!!
