For teh DVD thing it should work, cause why wouldn't they put a disclaimer like they did on the video games one?

well I went, they took all but one. >:/ But I had alot of the hallmark dvd's and they are pretty worthless except for like 2 (Merlin owns) and they took the bunch of them except one. The guy insisted theres nothing he can do, it didnt have the SKU on file.

[brag] I was able to return 5 DVDs that I bought in the past, got $50 credit, and was then able to buy WC3 Collector's Edition for $5![/brag]

You don't have to use the coupon or anything for WC by the way (the system reflects WC3 as $54.99 today), so any credit you earn by trading in games or DVDs, you can apply directly to WC3 if you want. Great deal!

And YMMV, but I was able to trade in my Madden 2k1 game for $8 credit at the second EB I went to, although one store wouldn't take the $5 additional discount (Normally they'll buy back the game for $3 only).

There's a limit of 10 dvd's... so you can only get $100.

OK, got back from the local EB and they told me that some of the xbox and ps2 games I wanted to trade in were only worth $5.00 in store credit. They happened to be sports titles, and they said that those were not worth much...so I decided to keep em.

But I went to Sam Goody immediately afterwards (which is in the same mall) and purchased a stack of DVDs on sale for $2.99 a piece. I took them back to EB and guess what? They took em. No duplicates, but I had 9 of them to trade in. I just turned $27.00 into $90.00 and with tax, to boot.

I'm going back with my GF and another stack of the same DVDs to pull off the trick again. It SHOULD work, considering the EB manager lady told me that another person could bring in the same DVDs to trade in (when I asked why they wouldn't take duplicate titles).

I went to another EB in a nearby city and they wouldn't take all but one DVD that I had given to the other EB. Funny...this time they said that the titles must be in their system in order to purchase them from me...I didn't want to pick a fight (these people NEVER budge) so I just left.

I can always return the cheapo DVDs back to Sam Goody, but believe me, I will try another EB in another city before I resort to that. Heck, I might even try later tonight at the same EB (different employee).

And as usual, YMMV.

hey why would you go for the 2 dvds for LOTR, or Spiderman (when it comes out). You can get $20 for those 2 dvds, and head over to Best Buy and pick it up for $15.99 or walmart for $15.88.

EB does not give cash for trade-ins. Like the term "trade-in" suggests, it's for store credit only.

I just came back from the meriden CT EB, they have the coupons but of course, I am not happy. I brought Wreckless to them to trade for Munch, and was told that it was excluded. WTF? So i says, fine, i'll just do the DVD offer, and he starts saying sh1t like I'll get 10 bucks for one of the DVDs, and the normal price for all the others... I'm calling the corporate headquarters now.

Just got off the phone with corporate hq, and they told me that it was $10 per DVD up to 10... just like you guys said... so now i have to wait for a district manager to get back to me... argh.

with the amount of money i pump into EB, and never get any deals, this just makes me angry.

Hmmm...let me see if I can remember...there were 10 different titles total:

The All Nighter
FM
Zachariah
Fitzcarraldo
Tenderness of the Wolves
Ebony Ivory & Jade

The All Nighter and FM are among the 10 that I had, which were the only ones that one of the EBs actually found in their systems. But the EB in my city just applied a generic sku for the ones that were not in their system...they were kinda irked about me bringing my GF to do the deal, but they did it regardless.

So total, I purchased 25 of these cheap DVDs at $2.99 a pop and I went to several different EBs with my GF to sell them 20 of them @ $10.00 credit EACH. Which left me with a grand total of $216.50 of store credit, after taxes. Thus, I used
$60.00 and turned it into $200.00.

I'm going to return 5 of the DVDs to Sam Goody (the ones they could not find in the system) which are:

Zachariah (2 copies)
Fitzcarraldo
Tenderness of the Wolves
Ebony Ivory & Jade

Theoretically, I could try going to my EB right before they close, and sell them the remaining 5 DVDs (or 4 if no dupes), if the manager was not there, but I don't want to be TOO greedy...hehe. I could also go to Sam Goody and exchange the remaining 5 DVDs for the titles that WERE found in their system and go to the other EB and sell em the 5 DVDs, but that's a bit too much trouble...I'm just glad I got what they gave me...reluctantly.

bearauto: Thanks for the response. No wonder only one of those was in EB's computers; I haven't heard any one of those movies! I brought in a DVD earlier this morning, and they wouldn't take it because the SKU didn't exist in their database, so it looks like YMMV for the titles you mentioned. Man, I wish I had been that lucky, although I think I'm still gonna drop by Sam Goody and see if they have any "known" DVD's for $3-5. It might be worth getting credit for that, although I wouldn't know what to do with $100 credit. It's too bad I don't think the EB's are carrying the GeForce 4 Ti 4200 anymore, otherwise I would have hopped on $100 off that.

Coolness. Finally got rid of most of my "promo" DVDs that I got for free when I bought my DVD player. Most didn't have a SKU or barcode printed on the case (they said "promo only - not for sale" in that location.) EB was able to look them up in the system and give me $10/ea credit anyway.
