Yeah. I preordered it last year actually. I have been on the Beta since the beginning (I think August 2009). Since Beta 3, I have been unable to play the game. I have reported the bug though, and I hope that it is fixed by the final release.

I actually liked it best early in Beta 1 before some of the changes. Beta 3 was the first beta that included 3d graphics (earlier betas were all on the "cloth map", and were meant to flesh out gameplay mechanics.) The game wasn't really a game at the time, as there were a whole lot of things that weren't implemented yet; so it was hard to tell how much fun it would be.

I'll try running it in windowed mode tonight (what one of the devs told me to try), and I will post my impressions of the current state of the game if it works.

I have the same issue since beta 3, on my xp32 desktop and my vista64 laptop. When Beta 4 came out at least my xp machine started working but still no go on my other system. Let me know if you get it going.

Been to busy to play with it, I do most my gaming on my laptop which it doesn’t work on at the moment because my kids attack me on my desktop in the living room. But from the 30m I have played with it I really don’t see how it is suppose to be done next month. It is really lacking polish, if they do launch it next month I could see a few big patches coming very soon, but who knows I am not the one making the game. I still think this game has a lot of potential of becoming a great game, really hope it doesn’t go the way of deity and demigod.

It is pretty fun. It went gold already, but it is still pretty unstable for me. I know they made a lot of stability changes between the last beta and the gold version, so I hope that it is pretty stable once the release is out.

For me is was fun>stability, although towards the end of the last beta session it was pretty solid, at least for me.

As an aside, during the first day or two the Devs are going to make themselves accessable via the in-game lobby so anyone can ask them questions. From development questions to "hey, what unit should I build".. pretty cool.

So, I think I am set on ordering this. From what I have read from fans of other Stardock games the game is really good Albeit in need of a couple patches especially in terms of stability.

So I just bought this game literally 5 minutes before this post. I hardly know what it's about aside from the fact that:

A) It's a strategy game with heavy RPG elements
and
B) It looks cool

I mostly bought it because of B.

Looks like they are allowing people to download & play early since I'm downloading now with digital download.

Got it and only played for about 30 min.

Pretty cool. Its like a mix of Heroes of Might and magic and a splash of Civilization.

Game is a little clunky and rough around the edges at times, but so far I like.

Definitely wait to buy. Reports are that the game is buggy as hell. I purchased it a few hours ago and have yet to get it to run. All I get is a crash to the desktop with an error.

The devs seem to be active on the elemental.com boards, so hopefully they will have the stability issues resolved soon.

Played for a few hours last night. While I haven't experienced any crash bugs, I'm finding the build/technology mechanics a little inscrutable compared to streamlined experiences like Civilization. Then again, I jumped straight into a game without touching the campaign, so perhaps I've missed some essential tutorials.
