Few questions to you zin:
- When can we start researching new techs? Do you need a specific building or "age" to do it?
- Do you keep units in your cities to defend them or it's not necessary?
- Do you create many new cities and how often do you create new ones? I know in the campaign you start with your capital and sometime later you find a kind of settler (Pioneer?).
- How can you train a Pioneer? In my cities, I can only train combat units...
- Is it better to create new units or upgrading the existing ones?
That's it for now heheh, thanks!
well, still don't know how much the update will effect this now, but...
--new techs are like any type of 4x or empire building game, in my experience. They advance in each category as you focus on specific categories. there are no ages (like in Civ); just a progression that is entirely dependent on how you choose to progress. There are new buildings with this update, so I can't really comment on that.
--I've been keeping units only in border cities. it seems that monsters will now attack, so it may be necessary to keep something around each city, as long as you pay attention to when and where new ones will pop up. monsters would not appear within your zone of territory in the earlier version. if an enemy unit attacks an unguarded town, they will immediately take it, like in older Civ. now, that wasn't a problem before, b/c the AI was so damn stupid. they would send single units of peasants after your towns to fight a couple of elementals or whatever. or maybe even a pioneer. lol. much has changed, hopefully
--the previous version had a "problem" (guess it depends on how you like to play) with city spam. build often and frequently, there wasn't much to restrict you. I'd make a pioneer rather soon and try to claim a nice resource asap. there was no population resource, so very much has changed now. In the campaign, I don't think you have access to pioneers all the time. the campaign directs you and restricts you from open play, so you can only build what the story requests of you. very different from the main game. I also read that lost Libraries are much less common with this update. They were easily the most valuable resource (perhaps even more so now) as they increase your rate of research (new tech).
--pioneer is first, and soon, available with adventure tech, iirc--if not one of the first available units when you start. again, campaign is different from normal game
--current units can level up, but you can't upgrade them. they can't be equipped (only heroes can). They used to be able to carry items, but could never use them. I believe this option has been removed (so, no more mules for your hero parties). You pretty much have to create new units when you want to improve the standard ones. level up only improves HP, afaik. in 1.1, I know that heroes now get more automatic stat boosts with level up, in addition to some you can choose (this was never the case before). I'm not sure if regular units also get these boosts, or just HP (actually, sovereign and hero units didn't get auto HP boost at level up before. that always sucked, as your advanced units would inevitably become more powerful than your sovereign in the late game--as far as mele is concerned)
