My joystick came in yesterday and I'm really glad I picked it up. I did a few training sessions with KB&M a couple nights ago then did more of the combat ones last night. Flying with the joystick is so much more natural and more fun than the KB&M (to me). I considered buying a joystick several times in the past but never did for whatever reason.

Docking wasn't hard as I feared but the training mission against the Type 9 was incredibly frustrating. Anywho I'm gonna jump into the game for real the next time I fire it up. Can't wait!

Couple questions about exploring though: is there a limit to the amount of info you can bring back to sell? And is the data lost if your ship gets destroyed? I'm thinking I'll stick around to earn some cash in the populated systems, then head out and explore in a little bit larger vessel at some point...more for the experience than the rewards, but rewards can be nice I'm sure.

No and yes. Keep in mind they are implementing new features to exploration (first discovered recognition, longer range route planning, easier data selling) in the upcoming 1.1 patch in a couple weeks so you might want to wait until then.

Sounds good. I'm sure it'll take me more than a couple of weeks to try out the stuff to do in populated regions.

Wow. That does neat. But it also sounds like a MAJOR leap over the current game. I mean you can't even store parts for your ship in your hangar yet but they are talking about letting players build Capital ships?

I read it as:

Trade XXX amount of goods collectively, build meter on station/cap ship increases. Shouldn't really require much, they already have ways to track trading.

Have I mentioned I *hate* trading?

That's the way I read it as well. Players are going to bring goods to a station designated for the capital ship and then once the meter fills up the ship will be completed & launched into space under NPC control. I'm also not a fan of trading which is why I'm going to get into piracy. I'm well aware that it's nowhere near as profitable as trading or even bounty hunting but I play this game to have fun, not to just grind NPCs . So those capital ship build sites sound like prime areas for me to hang out in nearby systems to relieve some pilots of cargo

Ended up outfitting my type 6 for exploration. I might go back later. Got a A4 FSD, medium discover scanner, and a detailed surface scanner. Scanned two entire systems, profit was 52k, or about 20k per system. Eh.

Why on earth would you outfit a cargo hauler as an explorer? There are ships specifically designed for exploration...

Right, but it fit everything I needed and I already owed it. I just wanted to see what kind of money I could make. It's got a nice jump at 26ly.
Sold everything except the FSD back, going to grind. I'm planning a pilgrimage to Sol once I get the permit.

No way. The Federation beats, malnourishes, and mistreats their slaves.

The Empire treats their slaves like dignified indentured servants in that they are people who have willingly submitted to slavery to pay off their debts.

The Federation are animals. The Empire is the one true civilized society and we will CRUSH ANYONE WHO STANDS IN OUR WAY TO PROVE IT

Yep- that is the exact site I came across. Figure I cant lose for $50 - I use a 50 inch plasma TV and sit back about 9 feet on a large chair with fold up table in front of me set at waist level for my mouse /keyboard- so now the HOTAS will be on it as well. So, I think I would need to get a USB extender cable and a USB hub to plug everything into. Should the hub be "powered" and 2.0 or 3.0 ? I figured I would use Velcro to secure the 2 parts of the HOTAS to the table on each side of the keyboard.

Ah crap. Got a bounty for attacking a guy before the scan finished. Now can't pay it off because it won't show up. Wanted in all of fed space.
I need to get this off of me. Any way?

Can be paid at any Anarchy allied station. Large systems or those next to them tend to have them I think.
