Once you start getting them, they start rolling in pretty quick. I shot up to Lord starting one afternoon and ending the next morning. Then the missions just stopped and I haven't received any since. I have no idea.

I bought this game and the x55 to go with it. Loving it so far, trying to save for a cobra. Some things need to be fixed asap though...one stray shot and you're dead by the cops wtf? Also wish their was more social stuff to do...I'm so ronery in space

You're not dead by the cops in 1 stray shot. This topic has been complained-to-death on the Frontier forums by a vocal minority.

Cops react poorly to being shot. Who knew? This is an opportunity for you to learn to be a better pilot. Use your radar. You can adjust display range on it. Use your situational awareness. This is part of the challenge of the game. Don't just mindlessly fly at your target with the trigger down.

Besides, you don't just instantly pop. You have the ability to evade. You have the choice to leave or stay. When you leave, you won't be shot at by anyone else until that fine turns into a bounty which is 24 hours later. You have plenty of time to land and pay off your fine.

To reduce the number of system authority ships that show up when you're in combat, turn off your S.O.S. which is in the Functions tab on the right-side panel.

We all had to learn how to avoid shooting ships that are not our target and you can to. Keep at it, you can do it.

Last night my ASP randomly exploded while flying towards a station. No one else was near me, one second I had full hull and shields, and then I just died. That bit of randomness costed me around 450k, but I had ~500k worth of rare goods in my hold so the true cost was around 1 million. Yay for spontaneous combustion.

Currently grinding luxuries to get a Python. I don't play frequently enough to simply enjoy my time in the smaller ships. If I ever want to experience the bigger ships I have to resort to money grinding or else it'll take at least over a year of normal play before I get one.

Same thing happened to me last night, I was approaching to land on the pad when I suddenly blew up and died totally out of the blue in my Imperial Clipper. Game said I was killed by another CMDR. I guess it is lag due to the server being way overloaded in crowded areas. I'm just going to play solo mode when doing luxury trading now though.

FYI here is a good video talking about luxury trading: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mKP9nPxNyY&hd=1

Bullcrap, it is a problem. This has happened to me many times. There is no way to avoid this kind of friendly fire from happening no matter how good a pilot you are.

In order to get imperial/federation rank you need to do missions and gain reputation with local system factions associated with that faction (e.g. "Empire Group" for Empire. The fastest way to gain rep is with the donation missions for that local system faction but if they don't show up you can do regular missions as well. If you are allied with the local faction though I don't think it can be raised further and you need to go to another system with a different local empire faction.

Since yesterday, docking requests denial is ~30% for me. No outstanding fines or warrants, haven't even fired my weapons yet, sidewinder is still stock, just saving CR at the moment. Not much traffic, pads seem to be free, I will keep watiching but it seems that it does not happen with stations you have to enter, only on the ones with external pads.

Once a station denies landing, it takes multiple retreats to >8km then requesting again to get approved, not doing anything different on the approved run either, landing pads are empty. If I get past that, sometimes it won't let me dock. I have to approach the dock and wait for the landing gear warning, if I engage it sooner, it won't dock. Restarting the game helps but not reliably.

Is there bounty on AI ships? If there is, what's the best way to go about it and is a stock Sidewinder good enough?

You don't have to retreat. You have to be within 7.5KM to request docking. If it rejects you, just keep requesting. If you become impatient, just log out right where you are and then log in to solo mode to dock.

If you request docking farther out than 7.5KM, you'll get refused every time and the refusal message will flat out tell you to get within 7.5KM to request docking.

Yes, there is. Any ship you see with "wanted" on it will have a reward for destroying it. Yes, you can do this in your stock Sidewinder. The past couple pages of this thread cover this discussion.

Online or Solo Mode? If its Online, I am thinking the station is full, maybe?

I'm getting a ton of docking requests denied, I think 100% from the independents? Is that a faction? It's kind of annoying, I don't know how I am supposed to improve my rep with them if I can't dock to turn in bounties....I never do the missions from the bulletin boards because honestly, I can't figure them out....

I also don't think I've even seen/been to an empire system or station yet. I just left the sidewinder which had a really bad fuel/jump range.

I did just pick up a cobra and life is pretty sweet, except I was doing some bounty hunting and died. So only had money for one more respawn. I was chasing down an asp and fought him for like 10 minutes then some douchebag came and stole my kill. He shot me though, and then became wanted. He was only in an....eagle? He ended up trying to run but because I was pissed off I chased him. I was banging him up pretty bad but then he did a 180 and dropped my shields, (my cobra is pretty much default stuff except the weapons), and with my hull at only 95% he managed to crack my canopy or whatever...wtf? Are you able to target things like that somehow? I don't know if you can hyperspeed out of battle once your canopy is gone...I died before I could try it. Kind of lame that a 50k ship can do that to a 400k ship like nothing. I dunno. Maybe his rig was really suped up.

So I went into solo mode to grind some cash so I didn't have to worry about losing the cobra I just grinded out. I watched a video on trading. Maybe I will give that a shot...drop down to a hauler or something. Still loving the game though.

You can target systems. I tend to go for thrusters or the power plant. Thrusters so they can't run or the powerplant for an auto-kill. If your canopy is compromised your life-support kicks in. I think default is 4m30s of oxygen. On both my ships I have it upgraded to the 15m? one.

If you've put 400k into that ship, IMO you should move to a viper if you want to fight. Mine is outfitted to half a mil I think, but would be less if not for the B class FSD I have. 400k would put you into a kitted out viper. I ram sidewinders to death. :awe:

If you want to meet up to fight some baddies together I'll be back in Aphra tomorrow or the next day. The RES next to beckman terminal is where I tend to hang out. I'm almost 200ly away right now though. CMDR bubbleawsome is my name.

Online, there was no one nearby, only station in the contact list and landing pads empty.

Thanks for the info.I found that if a station denies me once, it is best to back up to 8km+, as if that "back up to 7500m" prompt "resets" the docking denial issue.

I'll have to spend some time studying lucrative trades.

I may look into swapping back to a lesser ship but pimp out the modules on one. I know even in my sidewinder I was tearing up vipers so I was kind of hesistant to get one, and just grinded it out till I could get the cobra.

That's another question I had: How do you socialize in this game? I am really lonely in space, dont necessarily need someone to fly next to me all the time but....like maybe join a clan or something? Can you communicate across the galaxy if you're in a guild/clan or what not, or do you still need to be within each others range...?

I also tried to find some update information...I keep hearing in a week or two and then again in March or something there is supposed to be some sort of big update? Not finding too much with what exactly is in that update except for some explorer stuff...which doesn't interest me at all because I know I will never be the first to discover anything.

The only thing I've lost against in my Viper is an Anaconda, and I've managed to kill a different one.

I think the game tries to drop you into the same instance of space as your friends added to your friend list, but I'm not sure. I don't think there are clans or anything yet.

The next update has a release for the beta/alpha backers next (?) week and then a full release the week after. It should have social stuff IIRC.

I don't have any friends yet so I can't confirm the features.

I'm CMDR Chazumi In game. I'll try to add you once I get home but I play mornings east coast time ~10-1pm.

Also my productivity just went down 90% at work thinking about this game. Love it!

If this were not the case the game would not be very fun, fair, or interesting, it would simply be about who has the most money wins. As it stands now, the cheaper ships are generally the best for PVP.

Just because your gun cost $3k doesn't mean the guy with the $100 gun can't kill you.

I like that- prevents the basement-dwellers from always winning everything, so those of us with jobs/lives can still have a prayer.

Meh, if you buy a Cobra and you jump into combat with the default rating E gear, you're just asking for trouble. It shouldn't cost you very much at all to upgrade everything to D's which should save you some mass anyway. Remember, just like in Eve, don't undock if you can't afford to lose the ship. This is a big problem for newbie pilots. They think they can just jump into a bigger ship and be safe or be better and then they cry when they lose it because they don't know what they're doing or didn't bother upgrading their components.

As far as shooting specific sub systems, yes. You can either mouse scroll through your target's sub systems or you can select one directly from the system tab on the left-side panel.

That being said, you can shoot out specific components without targeting them, too.

If you want to shoot out drive or FSD, aim for the rear of the ship. If you want to shoot out someone's cargo hatch, you can, but you have to know where it is on the model and shoot at that part. Targeting a sub system doesn't actually change anything in combat or how the target receives damage. It simply shows you what the health of that module is and if you're close enough to the target you will see a small marker on their ship model showing you where to shoot at the ship.

Shooting out cockpits is fun in pvp :awe:
