Can't apartheid Jack (love that name) just set his follower number to whatever he wants? Or take it a step further and code following him right into the app?

The guy paid 50 billion dollars to be the top jerkoff in the circle, everyone should have to see the splash.

I mean, there’s a reason 4chan was kept at 4chan… There is depravities in this world that cant be unseen when first seen. And Elon wants to glue your eyeballs to the screen and remove all filters. Yea. No thanks.

Well the linked article dices it up. Make of this what you will.

"All of the above data points could signal fake accounts, describe users who are inactive, or even "lurkers" — users who exclusively consume content. It's likely a combination of all three. However, there are a few further stats that point more to the former two types of users.

Over the years, many real X users have found there are certain attributes that point to an account most likely being fake or a bot. For example, if an account uses the default avatar or the auto-generated username that usually includes a string of numbers, there's a good chance you haven't come across a real, active user.

Just around 25 percent of all of Musk's followers, or more than 38 million, use the default profile image that X provides for newly registered accounts. More than 40 percent of Musk's followers, or just under 50 million, have 4 or more numbers in their @ handle on X.
He's probably got a lot of non-bot followers with 1488 in their handle.

Wait what? About what and apeshit how?
I interviewed with SpaceX in 2009. Part of which was interviewing with him personally, at 8 pm at night, after I had been there since 10 am with nothing to eat. I've interviewed with a lot of engineering management, and he was the most awkward one I've ever talked to. I didn't decline the offer because of Elon, though it was because SpaceX offered a terrible environment, zero life/work balance, and shitty pay (when adjusted for COL) to top it all off. I would've been on the road the majority of the time working 14 hours/day, 7 days a week with no OT setting up launch pads. Everything I saw there was screaming "Don't take this job" and every person I interviewed with besides Elon left within 2 years of me being there.

The guy did create an environment where engineers could be engineers and take major risks, massively pushing the space industry forward. But other than that he is a douche.

Toyed with the idea, but I was already wanting to retire. So, I did, and I will never regret it. As I call myself a practical field engineer, they probably would have sent me down to Texass, so that would have been a definite no.

As someone that has spent more than half an hour talking to Elon, before he went bat shit. I would definitely pick Trump. At least Trump can be humorous.
Are you saying Elon can't be humorous? Who could forget his "Titter" jokes, not to mention the "let that sink in" knee-slapper when he was filmed entering the Twitter offices literally carrying a sink! That's gold!

The sink was funny. Titter might have been funny when I was 10.

No surprise there considering the identical reputation of The Elon Slave Labor Association

Furthermore, more than 43.8 million Musk followers follow less than 10 users in total via their X account. Around 13.5 million users only followed one single account, @ElonMusk, at the time the data was collected."

The hidden power of lurkers.

They lurk. They consume. They plan. They are ready to pounce.

At any moment.

BEWARE.

Lurkers are here to STAY.

Let them LURK in PEACE.

Sounds like either he was too busy interviewing (meaning their shortlisting process sucks ass) or he was mucking around and just testing the patience of candidates and filtering them out that way coz he knows only the VERY patient masochists will survive in his company.

If I had talent (and I'm guessing you do, a lot more than I do), I would not have waited more than an hour. Plenty of places out there that could use good talent.

I was talking with/interviewing with other people most of that time. Just the last 30 minutes or so mostly just BSing with the HR guy waiting on Elon. I will give him this, I saw him around multiple times and he had a brief conversation with the individual contributor that was showing me around. So at least back then he was involved and knew people, but no idea if that was a net benefit or not.
