Actually, I thought I saw something many years ago about this, but I get totally comflicting search results. Nothing approaching Intel GIVING the Pentium design to the military.

First this article:

Second:

But some gool ole boy lobbying must have changed some minds in congress.

Maybe it's just me, but something smells. (No, Trump's not around)
Yea yea, I was just pinging at the possibility that someone(Pentagon) "sat" on R&D that fit into current tech space without being in current tech space. It's the stuff of conspiracies man . I mean it coulda been an entire 45 minutes of Rogan & Alex Jones depravity.

edit: I do not know what level of brains be working at darpa and nsa.. I mean you could probably convince me that this is possible?

Lots of rust and worthless code reviews.
I think that was my favorite part of his Twitter takeover, where he asked people to present to him their best piece of code so he could personally review it as if he would be able to understand it.

Yeah. As a SW engineer, I would have laughed maniacally in his face and walked out.

Even better is that he asked them to print it out. It’s hard to think of anything more cringe for a software developer.
I probably already relayed this anecdote, but at a previous company we had a manager who was brought in for the developers, prior experience was managing some kind of assembly line or something, I forget the specifics. But he'd "done some coding" on a TRS-80 or whatever in the 80s, and asked someone to print out the source code for one of the websites so he could review it. One of the madlads did it, and put down a ream of printed code on his desk.

Well this is totally expected. I went so well the last time Musk tried to advise Trump....... What could go wrong, two self-centered rich white dudes?

Inside Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s Growing Alliance
Little fascist bitch

"Peltz and Musk also told Trump of an influence campaign in elite circles that is already under way, in which Musk and his political allies host gatherings of powerful business leaders across the country to try to convince them not to support President Biden’s re-election campaign."

A bunch of rich guys getting together trying to support Trump without letting everyone know they are supporting Trump.

The group convened at entrepreneur and investor David Sacks’s 11,000 square-foot modern farmhouse atop the Hollywood Hills. Musk and Sacks worked together years ago on PayPal.

The discussion at times centered on how attendees could give money to Trump outside of public view. In February, Trump’s supporters launched a new super PAC called Right For America to help re-elect the former president. The first major donor to the group was Perlmutter, the former Marvel executive. Sacks is co-hosting a coming fundraiser for Trump in San Francisco.

How would Elon Musk know anything about border security?

He visited the border once and strutted around with a cowboy hat.......

This is the most predictable news ever. People with that kind of money only care about keeping it and making more. There is literally no other consideration for them.

I had a friend's dad that used to program simulators for Flight Safety in the 80s and 90s. One time he showed me his books for the 777 subsystem he wrote. One 4" binder full of data from Boeing on how it performed, 7 4" binders of source code. Not sure why he printed it, except that he was probably working on one 15” CRT monitor.

Also remember him saying "it took 1 month to write it, 3 months to debug it."

I definitely think I could see more value in it for older systems, back in the day, when you may not have had a high-performance multi-document interface to make it easy to jump from function to function, or file to file.

This is a habit from the time when computing was very expensive. You debug on paper.

I think Musk is genuinely not concerned about money so much as servicing his malignant narcissism and raging case of Dunning-Kruger.
Yes, money at this point is meaningless from a personal welfare perspective. It is purely an ego thing to feed his endless need for praise and validation.

Ok, I don't disagree with you that he's probably not concerned about having enough money. But he took such a huge public L incinerating tens of billions with a flamethrower on the twitter deal that it was a blow to his self-image, and he's probably trying to find a way to boost it a little.

Emperors new clothes is 100% naked ego. Man child seeking approval from non existent friends.

Wouldn't it be something if Elmo was instrumental in Trumps reelection and thus ending democracy and freedom?

Cause it would mean it all started with an illegal alien.

Fuckers were right!
