Elsa back in business ?

Lot of their graphic cards at Newegg.com. Just wondering

Haven't heard that name in a while. I remember back in the TNT / early GeForce days, Elsa was the card to own.

They're back AFAIK, but they're a new company that's using the old name, to my knowledge.

Yup, but nothing to do with the old ELSA. Just the name was bought, and new company set up using the old (good) name.

You can buy just for the cool name then

It's a name that's been bought to sell graphics cards, IIRC, and get the company behind it a head start, as people remember the Elsa name, so they are going to already have a kind of foothold, rather than having to build up a reputation and name from scratch.

Elsa deffinitly went bankrupt but whoever bought the name doesn't seem to remember them ever shutting down.

I remember reading, that a group of investors was gathered to continue the business. IIRC, they do not have anymore factories (They used to design and manufacture most of their stuff) but everything is outsourced. So just the name is left...

That would sound right, the reborn Diamond MultiMedia is the same way - their video cards are just rebadged Sapphires/PowerColors.

PS On a side note, Diamond just introduced their first Viper card(the performance line), it's a 9600 XT, whoop-di-doo
