I have a problem I can't resolve. Any help would be appreciated.
Dual boot Win2k/Win98. System specs:
Asus P2B-F 256MB P3-800 no o/c
NIC(LAN) - D-Link DFE-530TX+
NIC(DSL) - 3Com OfficeConnect
Vid. - ELSA Gladiac GF GTS 2
SCSI - Adaptec 2940U2W
Sound - Diamond MX-300
The Gladiac refuses to run in anything greater than 800x600 @ 256 colors with the D-Link installed. I've used 3 sets of drivers with the Gladiac (old ELSA, new ELSA, reference) and two different sets of drivers for the D-Link (old & new). I've put the D-Link in 3 different PCI slots. I've manually assigned 3 different IRQs to the D-Link. I've disabled/enabled COM ports to free up IRQs. No joy.
With the D-Link installed, whenever I try to restart after setting a higher res. or color depth, Windows will give an error msg. saying there's a problem with the display adapter, or it won't even start (goes directly to shutdown screen), or it'll give an Explorer error at start-up. If I remove the D-link, everyone works as it should. When I increase the res. or color depth to above 800x600 within Windows, everything seems to work ok. But as soon as I restart or reboot, *poof*.
Everything gets along just fine in Win2k.
Other than trying another NIC or running w/o it, any suggestions? TIA.
