With the advent of the geforce TI 500 etc I took advantage of a sudden price drop and got myself a lond desired Geforce3 graphics board
I was imatient to get it and try it out having heard they were easy to install and I have had no problems with my Geforce GTS Pro. I rushed home from work and without eating opened up the old box and did the installation, guess what, yes youre right it didn't work and I simply got a blank screen on windows sartup. Now I have done numerous system builds and upgrades and know all about the removal of old drivers and setting to VGA mode but after numerous tries and even downloading no less than three sets of drivers from the net just in case what I had were corupted I still had no working Geforce3. The particular card is a Elsa Gladiac 920 but in spite of all the good news about this card I could not get it to work until I thought as a last resort I would try the old drivers on the installation CD rather than a newer version. Suddenly there was no black screen and windows started but most of the game software would not start and I had a lot of artifacts running up and down the screen, must be aq bad card I thought and was ready to pull it out when i decided to try one last thing to see if anything changed.
My system is a

P3 700 running at 910 (happily for 18 months)
256mb crucial 133 cas 2 sdram
SB Live
maxtor 20gb 7200 drive
DVd/CD (Aopen)
Asus CusL2 91009 bios)

Would anything change if I ran the processor with no overclock so I did this and as if by magic everyting was working as it should be allbeit I had lost over 200mhz on the processor. just to check I tried updating the nvidia drivers to 21.81 and the upgrade went like a dream.

I have never heard of this problem before and assuming it is simply the processor O.C that was the problem can anyone shed any light on why this should be or if there is a way to get back my processor speed and system performance
many thanks:Q

a) wrong forum
b) you overclock by raising fsb, this raises the agp bus too, do you know what your agp bus is at? my guess would be gf3 cant take that bus speed.

possible solutions are to drop fsb little by little or raise I/o voltage to help keep gf3 stable are higher fsb speeds.
