Sorry, but you can get a geforce2 for ~$150 these days. So this is not really a hot deal. But, thank you for trying to help

Yeah, you can find a Geforce2 for $150 bucks but it sure as hell wouldn't be the GTS. This is the GTS version, and for anyone looking for this great card can save some money with this coupon. If you can find a GTS card for $150, I will gladly apologize.

I'd wait about 2 weeks when the NV20 comes out and you'll see prices on all previous models drop fast.

I totally understand that you can find a diff. manufacturer of the GTS for $150. But can you get the Elsa Gladiac for that price? The Elsa got the best reviews for the GTS version

Pretarion, I bought an Elsa Gladiac GTS for $127 shipped in December from buy.com.
Its still cheaper there now, $197 plus shipping minus an easily found $30 coupon.
$170 or so easily.

this deal is very cold.

I see alot of posts about crappy 2d quality with nvidia based cards. Both of mine work great. Wonder whats up with that? Monitor incompatibilities maybe? I have a Viewsonic PF790 & a 3 yr old Sony 17" CPD 200sx.

I'm afraid the other folks are right, Pretarion. Patience, my friend, will get you a better deal. Sorry you missed this nice Christmas present. It should be back though, and maybe even at a better price, lke the poster above said after the NV20 cards appear.

Now, if anywone knows where to find the Elsa software that comes with Quadro2 Pro chipset Gloria III, and they could point me to it, this would be a blessing indeed. Cause this site says I can hackmorph my Gladiac GeForce2 GTS into a Quadro2 Pro Gloria III. The Gloria III card doesn't bring any gaming improvements over the GeForce2 GTS, but it brings heretofore unavailable performance, in this price range, to CAD applications. And I'm a CAD daddy.

They are right about the deal, but I don't understand the comments on the 2D, I have both a voodoo3 card and a Geforce2 card and I think the Geforce 2D is better than the voodoo card. My 2D is crystal clear, I'm sure my 19" SONY monitor helps some too

jim,

its fine at lower resolution, but i'm using a 21" sony trinitron set at 1600x1200@85mhz in 32bits color mode. i had a voodoo banshee and it has better 2d image quality than the elsa gladiac gts. i'm waiting for my matrox 450, will see how it goes.

Not very hot...I got mine for about $130 a couple months ago. I would think that it'd be much cheaper than $189.49 now.

Check out United Micro and do a search for "Pro". They have an eVGA 32mb GeForce 2 PRO Version (it is OEM but boxed, that is why it is 32mb, it is a real Pro version, pro isn't a nickname or anything it is the real deal). I know it's an offbrand, but I've heard it is just as good as a "normal" brand and performs the same. You'll get INSANE performance for $170 if you go for this. Pro is an OEM name for "GeForce 2 Ultra". It is the same thing but with less RAM, but as I said it performs literally just about the same as a normal 64mb model.

United Micro is rated well on Resellerratings and Bizrate, so don't worry about ordering from them.

<< Pro is an OEM name for "GeForce 2 Ultra". >>

Wrong. Pro means Pro. Ultra mean Ultra. They actually are different cards entirely.

3.0/7.0 is good? Uh...mmmkay. You go ahead and order that "32 meg GeForce 2 Pro", and I think I'll just save my money for when a real GF2 Ultra can be had for under $200. Good luck getting your money back when they ship you a normal GF2...

There is difference with PRO and ULTRA

PRO is same with like GTS, exept it has higher clocked memory
ULTRA is like PRO with doubled memory and lil higher clocked memory

I got mine for $127 shipped after doing the pricematch to Onvia from Staples and using the $50 off $150 coupon (how quickly this turned into a gloathing thread, heh)...good deal on the Elsa Gladiac GF2 GTS. Quite happy with it.

And, everyone's right, the Pro is NOT the OEM name of the Ultra. Different cards. There's currently a huge discussion going in the other thread that GoldenTiger started here if you want to read up on what's been posted...I'd hate to see all that information doubled up in another thread (namely, this one).

Edit: Ya know, saying "you can get a GF2 Ultra @ $170" is kinda misleading...an actual, REAL Ultra will still cost you a pretty penny more than that. Not a 32 MB Pro...

I bought a ELSA Gladiac GeForce 2 GTS for $140 back in January from onvia. What's the deal with the price hike the last few months? Don't video card prices usually go down??

Everybody needs to leave this poor guy alone. I haven't done a price check on the Elsa lately since I got mine right before Xmas for $110 but $189.49 might be a good deal today. Remember, we all got our cards at the end of the year when everyone is trying to dump excess inventory, Onvia wasn't suck, and coupons were abundant and abusable.

Ron, maybe people are being a little harsh on him but the fact is that that is NOT a good price by today's standards.
