I'm at work right now and I saw this tower for $185 bucks. I'm picking up one for my dad and we have 5 others left. Decent if you don't wana piece together a system for a family member who wants to surf the net, check email, etc.

I can confirm this, but it depends on the store and how many they had in stock when it was put on clearance, if they had 5 or more then it is $185.00, if they had 2-4 then it is priced at $302.00 which is still not bad , and if the store only had 1 then it is still full price of $447.00.

I went to my local BB and they loooked up the sku and there were all 3 of these prices listed for different stores, i got in on the same clearance deal like 2 months ago, it was a Sempron 3300+ system with DVD_+RW and all that, and it was $185.00 also, and the price was more at store that had less stock.

So if you really want this then got to the stock and have them look it up, and see which store if any have it at the $185.00 price, my store had 1 for $302.00. and only 2 stores listed it at $185.00 and they were sold out.

Socket 754.

wrong its 939 socket

at 2.2ghz and 1mb cache would make it a 3400+ if it were socket 754

this has to be socket 939 ie: it is this cpu right here.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103622

also this from the emachines product page means it is socket 939 "2000MHz system bus"

754 socket cpu's are "1600mhz system bus"

Yes, I called and checked. LOL

Never call because you ruin the deal for everyone at that particular store.

O, common!
Who's deal did I ruin?
Every store I called (like 5 stores total) hadn't have it in stock, neither today nor yesterday!!!!

IMO you ruin the deal because you alert the employees, they say they don't have any, then they buy em. I saw this many times when I worked at Office Depot.

Yah we have 1 left, but we sold 5 of em yesterday. I know 2 other employees who pulled them down and held em until their shift was over

Looks like a very good deal. It'd help if you put a better thread description referring to it being a PC.

While the machine is on clearance at most every BB, the $185 price seems to be somewhat regional. I found 3 BB's with this computer in stock; one with 1 (had been opened and resealed....appeared to be a customer return), one with 2 (including a display machine), and one with maybe 10-12 on the shelf and a display machine. Every store stated the price was $302.

So, great deal for those who can get it for the $185........wish they were that price in my neck of the woods!

Hell it's a great deal at $300 too. It's amazing how much computing power you can get these days for under $500. I'm typing away on a $500 Gateway that has a 3500+ A64, 2 GB ram, 200 GB HDD, Geforce 7600GT that literally blows away my custom rigs that I've spent thousands on in the past. All I did was upgrade the video card and soundcard for under $200 so I could turn this baby into a HTPC.
