That seems like a REALLY good deal. Thanks.

Edit: That is, if you can get one in-store and thus avoid the shipping fee. But it seems many stores do not have any in-stock, according to the website. Of course, that hasn't been updated since last night, and unless this is a clearance model, maybe the stores all received some for today? Unlikely, I know.

Pretty good, but not available for pickup anywhere near me. Shipping adds another $30, and then there's tax. I'm on the fence until I hear more hype...

Linky

It's not necessarily a deal killer. I have a friend who wants a desktop, so I thought it would be optimal to get something like this now, and in 1-1.5 yrs, when dual core prices come down even further, upgrade the CPU.

So I mean add some more RAM now & a new CPU down the road...for a net cost of ~350ish, the machine should last a good 3-4 years for a non-gamer.

edit: But that plan doesn't work here b/c it's socket 754. However if you have low needs for a comptuer (surf the interweb + word kind of thing), then this is an awesome deal.

All OOS in the Baltimore, MD area, as well as the Harrisburg, PA store. At this price, I would have bought one for my kids so they could stop fighting over my existing desktop and trying to borrow my laptop all the time. Oh well.

Darn you, superHARD!

I ordered one online for instore pickup and went and got it at lunch. It wasn't at my nearest Best Buy, but that turned out to be a good thing because the checkout person at this store let me use that 30% Back to School coupon on a monitor! I had struck out at several others in my area. I got the 19" MAG LCD that's on sale this week for $199. I got it for $139! I haven't heard much at all about MAG lately, but the price is right. I'll have to look them up a bit... Anyway, that was a HOT lunch break

Thank you OP!

just check some random zip codes, and lots of store still show in-stock, especially in rural areas, "the boonies", more densely populate areas are sold out, so it you live in the middle of nowhere, you have better chance of geting this.

Here is info on the motherboard, i just cracked my system open and here is a list of the parts, not gonna boot it though so don't ask.

Motherboard "FIC", like most Emachines http://www.fic.com.tw/product/motherboard/AMD/k8mc51glf.aspx
2 x sata 3.0gb ports the fastest ports out for sata

Hard drive "SEAGATE" IDE ATA100 model 7200.9 7200rpm 8mb cache 1year warranty from Emachines, the oem version of this drive has 5 year warranty, so pretty good drive.

http://www.seagate.com/cda/products/dis...es/marketing/detail/0,1081,713,00.html

1 x 512mb pc3200 cas3,3,3,8 "HYNIX" ram single sided

"LITE-ON" 16x DVD+-RW Dl and all that jazz model: SHW-1635S manufactured: March 2006

"Bestec" 300Watt PSU 20pin plugged in to 24pin connector no motherboard, also typical Emachines "SOP"

9 in 1 memory card reader

1 case fan

passive heatsinks on both the north bridge and southbridge chipsets.

great basic machine for everyday use for most people wit hno upgrades.

even a pretty good low end gameing, for the very casual gamer, onboard 6100 graphics is one of the best onbard graphicas chpsets out.

a few inexspensive upgrades and this would ply all games at 800 x 600 or higher

add a 1gb pc3200 stick for $60.00 and a X800 128mb PCI-E is only $65.00 after rebate, and probably would not need a PSU upgrade, i just got the saphire x850XT PCI-E for $96.00 after $30.00 rebate from newegg, which would make this play most any game on medium settings, but might need a better psu to run the X850XT .

nice cheap gameing rig for $350.00 to $450.00 depending on if you got the X800 128mb or X850XT 256mb and PSu to run it.

here is the anandtech review of a 6100 graphics motherboard, and as i said it plays most games at low res just with onboard graphics, not bad huh.
