The price is the same or cheaper than 2 seperate mini ITX cases that I was looking at. This case will fit into the mini cabinet I have, so it's easier for me to work with it than try to find a place for 2 little cases out of the way.

I also might be changing the layout of this rackmount case when it gets here. There might be 3 or 4 mobo's inside it before I am down.

BTW it gets here on Friday, and the destruction starts on saturday.

Don't forget there's a voltmod trick out for this board now... cuts the power and heat noticably - pencil trick, so essentially harmless mod.

Got a link to that mod?

Google + "D201GLY2" + "mod" = LINK

Right there at #1! The same guy also has a mod to spread out the heatsink fins for far better cooling.

Guess I didn't "feel lucky" tonight. Thanks for the link. I'm now thinking about getting rid of my (unused) GLY and getting a GLY2... hopefully to be used.

*cough* I've sure been thinking about making a lil' machine... *cough*

I've got one of those old Intel Technician dolls... I was thinking of holding him ransom so Intel will send me a new prototype D201 replacement board... one of the new ones based on the better Intel chipset... better processor, more RAM.... yummers!

You ought to get that cough looked at.

If you're interested in the original version, PM me.

Has anyone read anything about how loud the fan is on the D201GLY2A? 9The actively cooled version of the board)

I can't see it being that loud, as the one on my Jetway board is minimal, ie no louder than any SOHO router/switch that is activley cooled with a small 40mm fan.

edit: Just figured I would add I'm on the search for another board. Right now the main selling points are SATA and Price. I'm having a hard time not buying the intel, but I've read a few places that with heatsink its over 44mm tall, that would be too much or really close for my 1u case. I'll have to check. Also that it runs so hot it kind of pushing me away.

I'm looking at another Jetway board, the cheapest with Dual Sata I can find is basically the board I have, its $99 bucks. I would use the Jetway I have but I can't seem to find another dual Lan board cheaper. I notice there is hardly any CPU usage on it at all with IPCop and alot of torrents, software dls, and browsing the web. I love that part.

Hopefully put up some pictures of the case and it's insides shortly. To put it nicely I am slightly disapointed in the case as it was hand modified for the ITX boards. I could have easily bought a cheap case and done the same type of work although it may have cost more in the end for the little acc's that it comes with. Oh well....I'm still happy.

Here are some cell phone pics.....

how it came, except with the itx and HD

stripped awaiting for a new board

and the oh shit my board is too big

Not enough room to fit the other PS in there. So i tlook slike me trying to recycle my DFI-Lanparty won't work....I was going to use it as my raid fileserver and web server until I picked up another board. Maybe I can find a used matx cheaply.....and the hunt begins.

BTW still planning on at least 2 if not 3 boards in here before I button it up. For cooling I'm not that worried since these are all low wattage, but the last 12" of the case on each side has vents so I figured I would go cross flow there with fans, like a network switch setup. I might even add a fan ports through the cover since this will never see a rack. Then I can put some large 120's as blow holes and quiet things down.

edit: so after looking at mATX, that's not small enough either to fit the other PS in the case. I looked at some ITX in a 754 socket but they all have 3 sound plug ins stacked and thats too tall. So I'm now looking at another Jetway with the 1.7 Via or the AMD Geode NX 15xx or 17xx cpu. JetWay J7F3E-PB for the latter and the JF74 for the Via is what is currently my IPcop box. Looks like the Geode 1500 as it sits at 6wats compared to the 1700 thats around 15 watts. I'm trying to find good prices right now.

Last edit for the night.....so unless I find something better it looks like the jetway Amd board from http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813153052 They also seem to have the best price. Can't seem to find anything that fits the bill better for the price.

I built the bullet and orderd the Jetway with the AMD Geode NX 1750. I ordered the molex tool kit too as I am going to mod one of the power supplies to run both ITX boards and 2 hard drives. Not very demanding. My current board from Jetway I know I can OC but I am going to see if I can underclock it to save on juice, as I never work the cpu at all. Hopefully Monday or Tuesday I will be installing my new board and tryign it out. I might try and install of Server 08 on it to see if it will work. Other wise 03, then some nix variant as a last resort.
