The logic here is astounding, folks.

The only price is our dignity....and possibly are souls.

sounds good, we should have a reality show on MTV too. plus if you have any tan or look like you have friends you'll have to take care of it.

It's just modern rap that sucks. I can count on one hand the number of new rappers that have any ability whatsoever.

EMO is like the new Weezer. They sing emotionally about stuff they have no idea about....

EMO bands: pretty much any Blink 182 knock off, New Found Glory, Get Up Kids (they used to be decent, actually)...make me shutter.

Well, for all those bashing "emo"

Some of the best music to come out of the 80s is classified as this new "genre" called "emo." I emplore everybody to listen to Dagnasty's first two releases.

On the flip side we have rap. Some of the best rap ever was released in the late 80s/early 90s. Ala eric b and rakim, nig's for life, Ice T, Cube, Dre - the amount of talent flowing through that list right there smothers anything released to this day.

There is crap in every classification of music. It is the shallow mind that cannot hear the talent/skill and raw emotion of expression.

rap ftl

emo sucks too, but there's nothing less 'musical' than a big black dude (or white wannabe black dude) grunting into a microphone about how he had to kill dozens of people who dissed him, while loads of pimply white kids listen to it and wish they were black

I just spent the time since I first posted my question googling EMO, I must say I am out of touch with this genre of music, or at least what it stands for/represents. Since I have no experience with it I cannot critique it objectively. Now CRAP, err I mean rap on the other hand is something that I deplore. I believe it is one of the things that is ruining the fiber of this country. It's whole existance has turned violence into commenplace and demoralized the younger generation. And yes, I am a 40ish white male that grew up listening to what is reffered to as "classic Rock" today.

as much as i hate rap, emo is worse. why? because emo people think they're good - they think they have talent by creating off beat sh!tty music. a few select rappers do possess talent (ill give them that), but emo is some whiny skinny white teen crying about a girl, life, or something else we dont care about. despite rap's boisterous characteristics, its surprisingly easy to ignore.

Now this I'd like to know too. If you would classify bands such as Placebo, SP and such as emo and then call it teh suck you are an egghead. Oh yeah, I am the walrus.

Well trucker, i'm 19ish (well actually I turned 19 just a couple of days ago) and I listen to blues and classic rock. But, mind you, not all classic rock is good. To me, the best classic rock is that of which is heavily influenced by blues i.e., Led Zeppelin, Cream, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Doors, etc. Lately I've been on a Skynyrd binge. They are an amazing amazing band.

If that's the case then hopefully you realize those are all "folk" bands. EMO is strongly based on folk and has its very root in it. As is rap.

-edit- pick up Skynyrd's box set. Amazing.

Reality TV is extremely popular, but also sucks. As they say, the masses of the people are the asses of the people.

rappers (at least new mtv rappers that i have heard) have no musical talent (although i have heard that some rappers like kanye west actually writes good lyrics). even if the do make their own beats, it is not hard. you can download a program on the internet and make your own beats, it just takes time. most of their lyrics make me wanna barf. all it is is them saying how much better they are then everyone else
